We are delighted to announce that MCM and the Project Team for Doubloon have again been recognised for their endeavours.
Following on from our recent accomplishment for ‘Best Individual Dwelling’ at the regional LABC Building Excellence Awards MCM were automatically put forward for the national awards of which further recognition was achieved. Although MCM didn’t quite achieve the crowning glory of National Winner the judges deemed it ludicrous not to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of ‘Doubloon’ and so presented the team with the Highly Commended Award.

MCM are thrilled to have been a part of such a rewarding and innovative build and thank all those involved.
To appreciate the project in its entirety we invite you to visit the blog maintained by our Clients.

We are elated to announce that MCM achieved the accolade of ‘Best Individual Dwelling’ at this years LABC Building Excellence Awards.
Following the nomination and successful selection as a south-east regional finalist MCM fought of similarly well deserving but none the less rival competition to be crowned as the winner for ‘Best Individual Dwelling’ at this years LABC Building Excellence Awards.

Here’s what the LABC had to say about the triumphant ‘Doubloon’:

This complex project involved many hours of discussions between the owners, contractors and local authority building control team over its radical design and combination of traditional and modern materials.  With an untreated oak frame, enough tolerance had to be planned to accommodate the movement of the oak beams as they dried while maintaining the building’s weather resistance.
The attention to detail and first rate craftmanship delivered an exemplary elegant home combining old and new materials and construction techniques and  incorporating a huge amount of energy saving technology.
Heating and hot water is provided by a combination of air source heat pump, solar panels and a heat recovery unit.  The house also includes rainwater harvesting, LED lighting throughout and extremely efficient insulation making it one of the most sustainable buildings the judges have seen.
