Just read Carl Symons article again. Excellent. But as the orders and donations for improv show, he had not much resonanz. So please order or donate, if you want to do something against the thread of closed hardware.
From its beginning, KDE has been a leader in innovation in free (libre) and open source software (FLOSS), but there is a threat to that leadership in one of the fastest growing areas of technology. The advantages of free and open development and use are clear for software; now closed and proprietary strategies have become standard in other kinds of technology. The need for technology freedom has moved from software to other more corporate-control...

Where will Marble (as an example) run in 5 years?

Now it runs on my laptop under debian unstable and KDE and on my weTab under mer with Plasma Active. It did run on my N900, which is history, in a mobile version. It is not running on my Samsung smartphone and tablet, which are powered by Android. Android is a Linux distribution, not a GNU/Linux distribution, as it is opensource, but not Free. When will Marble under Plasma on my smartphone and tablet? Smartphones and tablets will soon be the biggest part of computers; which will kill windows. Will this development kill Free software too? One has to act! Make Free and open hardware possible.

Waiting for improv

Sadly, improv will not be delivered in march. So one has to be patient furthermore. But I think, it is worthwhile, because Free and open hardware is urgently needed. Obviously there were not enough orders and donations to get it going until now. I am surprised that not more people realise, that closed hardware is a thread for Free software. Do you for example want to let the googles and apples let decide what software works on their platforms? As tablets are the next big learning device, for example the KDE-Edu people should have a high interest in making improv possible; because without improv no vivaldi tablet.
So please consider ordering one today or donate.

For the importance of Free Hardware in education see this (in german): http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Das-digitale-Klassenzimmer-kommt-2155484.html?wt_mc=rss.ho.beitrag.atom . And all this goes to closed software. BTW have just commented three times with mentioning improv.

Yesterday, after waiting for too long, I finally ordered an improv. I think, it is urgent to support Free hardware.
