Yesterday, Obama called Jonathan Gruber “some adviser who never worked on our staff," telling Chief White House Correspondent Ed Henry he had “just heard about” the multiple times Gruber was caught on camera bragging about helping the White House exploit “the stupidity of the American voter” to pass the health law.

But those statements don't add up with the new details surfacing about the time when Obama summoned Gruber to the Oval Office for an emergency meeting of top advisers in an effort to salvage passage of #Obamacare back in 2009.

There's no denying -- something's not adding up here.

We would not be here, free, today without the brave men and women, whom for over 200 years have answered the call of duty of their country, whenever American freedom has been on the line.

From all branches of service – Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard – they risked, and sometimes gave their lives defending and serving our great Nation.

We owe an immeasurable debt of gratitude to you, America’s veterans. Thank you.

On Thursday, I sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Hagel for further clarification about the 1,500 members of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of U.S. Army Fort Campbell and their mission to West Africa to quell the #Ebola  outbreak.

Many of the brave men and women of the 101st are Tennesseans, both friends and constituents, and their families want additional information about the mission, which I'm asking SecDef Hagel to provide. #USArmy   #Army   #Military   #101stAirborne

MIND-BLOWING and UNACCEPTABLE. Thousands of federal employees are collecting months worth of paychecks while on "paid administrative leave" and not even working.

Last month I supported H.R. 5169, which would require senior officials placed on administrative leave to repay the government if their paid suspension is a precursor to their termination. Of course, like so many others, this bill is currently stuck on Harry Reid's desk in the Senate. #politics   #government   #congress

Thanks to everyone who participated in my recent Wisdom of the District: Ebola survey.

Based on your feedback, many of you will be pleased to know I recently sent a letter urging President Obama to act immediately to protect American citizens from any further exposure to the deadly #Ebola Virus. The letter calls on the President to establish travel restrictions, increase airport inspections, and allow short-term quarantine of individuals who have traveled to or from the West African countries where the disease is rampant.

I will continue to ask you to weigh in on this dangerous situation as new information surfaces, and give you updates about this deadly disease.

REMINDER! I'm hosting another "Ready, Set... Hired!" event this Thursday at Dyersburg State Community College. This unique Jobs Fair will feature businesses that are hiring as well as several breakout sessions to help folks prepare to join or re-join the workforce.

If you or someone you know is currently in search of employment, I hope to see you there. #TN08 #Jobs
