Nancy Dirocco had no signs or symptoms. I fell when I was 4 months pregnant with my second child, so they sent me for an MRI for my shoulder and that's when they detected a nodule on the right side of my thyroid, says Dirocco. The nodule was monitored for about 2 years, until doctors realized it had doubled in size.
