This definitely counts as an Eldritch Horror. Terrible, yet simultaneously beautifully alien. Also it's strangeness calls you in, beckoning you to determine what arcane secrets and mechanisms that have been used to create such madness; yet upon understanding you cannot help but feel terror and revulsion; cursing your own curiosity as you learn things Man Was Not Meant To Know.

I like doing things alone—eating dinner, playing games, seeing movies—but for some, the idea seems depressing, sad, or only for people with no one to be with. That’s nonsense. Doing things alone develops self-sufficiency, gives you time for honest reflection, and, forces you to learn to like yourself a little—or at least figure out why you don’t.

Behavioral Economics is a relatively new field that is attempting to understand humans in the way you describe. I think psychology, sociology, and (behavioral) economics straddle the STEM/non-STEM lines pretty well.
