Induction cooking technology is becoming increasingly popular amongst chefs, primarily because of its energy efficiency - important as operators are faced with rising energy costs.

Our Managing Director, Steve Hobbs, raised some important points in this article about induction. There is price to consider because, often with this technology, you get what you pay for. He also said it would "be very useful to have a universal measuring standard for induction appliances" as there currently isn't one so customers can make informed decisions.

Have a read for more induction insights and what to consider if you are in the market for the technology.

As the home of Mareno equipment in the UK, we are pleased to introduce the new MyMareno app.

One of the best features of the app is the QR code reader. The user can scan the code on any piece of Mareno equipment and access all the documents related to it... Instruction manuals, wiring diagrams and service documents at your fingertips.

The City of London Club has invested in a new Athanor cook suite from Grande Cuisine so that it can continue to provide comfort and hospitality for its members for many years to come.

The club recently refurbished its kitchen with the help of design consultants SHW Design and Grande Cuisine. The club commissioned a bespoke peninsular cook suite to maximise work flows in quite a tight space. Head Chef, Adrian Matthews, is able to precisely manage workflows and the configuration provides the perfect balance between storage, work area and functionality.

Give us a call if it's time to get your own perfect cooking environment.

Our blog about the recent Athanor installation at Wentworth Golf Club is over on our website.

Grande Cuisine supplied Wentworth with a central island Athanor suite. This creates an ergonomic space which delivers an efficient working environment. Space can be optimised for the best workflows to achieve reduced operating costs and faster service.

The project was specified by commercial kitchen design consultants Humble Arnold Associates and fitted out by C&C Catering Equipment of Chester.

Another stunning installation! Time to invest in yours?

Induction technology may be a little more expensive than traditional gas cooking equipment, but by switching to electric equipment, you could reduce your energy consumption.

There is less wasted energy too as the heating is generated through the pan itself rather than being wasted and making the kitchen uncomfortable to work in.

What operators need to know is that they do need to pay more for their pans if they are to get the most out of the technology. It is simply not possible to get the best results from top induction equipment with cheap pans that aren't up to the job.

Many in the industry still believe that operators consider other factors – particularly price – over and above efficiency when choosing cooking equipment.

Grande Cuisine's Steve Hobbs said "The old adage of buy cheap, buy twice, is true. In business it is not possible to get a lot and only spend a little."

Here's what else he had to say on the energy efficiency of catering equipment for this Food Service Equipment Journal feature.

We supplied the Soho House High Road Brasserie with two beautiful Athanor cooksuites in partnership with Contract Catering Equipment (CCE).

The brasserie is an all-day dining environment so the bespoke cooksuites were designed to be versatile to complement all services.

95 per cent electric suites were selected to replace the old gas cookers to keep down the costs of service and maintenance and reduce energy consumption. You can read more about the installation in our blog - check it out.
