Opened in 1956, this destination features dry-aged steaks, a huge wine list & flocked wallpaper.- Google
"I highly, highly, highly recommend ordering the chocolate peanut butter truffle."
"After dinner, take the kitchen and wine cellar tour."

I only enjoyed dessert at Bern's but it was fantastic. The atmosphere was romantic and the live piano player added another level of intrigue. I ordered the creme brulee which was some of the best I've ever had as well as the sampler which although it was nice to have variety I kept wanting more of the creme brulee. The Irish coffees were also a nice way to top of the night. If you have a sweet tooth this place is one of the best evening date places.

Hello all. My hobby is to be a food critic and I have been searching for good food all over the world. Upon my arrival in the states, i tried Bern's. I can honestly say that was one of the nastiest things i have eaten in a long time. First they would serve nasty not filtered tap chlorine water. I asked for juice, because the water was nasty. The juice, not fresh, from a bottle, so sweetened it would dry my mouth and make me piuk. I had to stick with the nasty water for the rest of the dinner. Wine walk - not impressed, silly and quite stupid that they take people into small dirty isles. Dessert - plain. Expensive and disappointing. Main dish - file mignon, aged, whatever. Outback was more seasoned and better than that. Side dishes - plain, very weird looking, not appetizing at all. The looks of the place is terrible as well. I wish America would learn about good food and stop believing nasty holes as Bern's is anything good at all. I left completely disappointed and disgusted. Please, save yourself some good bucks and some frustration, and just cook at home. This is my honest advice.

Pretentious smiles and a tour of your kitchen does not make up for the fact that the steak was tasteless! I'm a New York Strip kind of guy. I like my meat rare with a nice crisp to the outer layer. So, while I hear that Bern's is known for their chateaubriand, I decided to stick with a strip. First off, the price for a 10oz strip was a bit eccentric, although, then I realized that every piece of meat comes with 5+ items. There's the soup, salad, baked potato, onion rings, vegtable, lions, tigers, and bears... oh my! I didn't expect a lavish trip to Narnia, I just wanted some meat and a possible potato! Now, here's where you start to loose extreme points. It was recommended to get a sauce with the steak. Recommended. Okay, I have nothing against a Au Poivre sauce, but I still expect the meat to be just as flavorful without. I was told the sauce comes on the side, so I got the Au Poivre. Every cookbook that I can find has the basic outline for an Au Poivre sauce as such: Peppercorns, Cognac Reduction, and Heavy Cream. The color is very distinct. The taste is making my mouth water right now. Bern's Au Poivre sauce was an odd ruby red color, lacked any real manly sense of pepper, and was made with a wine reduction! A WINE REDUCTION! Gasped, surely this must have been a mistake... I brought this to the attention of my waiter who assured me this was not the case. The Au Poivre sauce is a wine reduction. In what country!? Only Florida. Down to the real meat and potatoes. The potato was actually better than the steak, in part due to the bacon, cheese, chives, and sour cream. The actual taste of the steak was very absent, which is why a sauce is most likely recommended. After dinner we were given a tour of their kitchen and then led to a separate room for dessert. The overall experience was impressive, but the overall food was way below par. Rubbish!

Best restaurant experience yet! My husband and I are travel RNs and foodies! So, we get to travel the country and try new restaurants and so far Bern's beats all others as far as excellent service and again, overall dining experience. First of all, the building is very unassuming, but once you step inside, the decor is quite unique; it is dimly lit and very romantic. Our server was amazing, if ever we were stuck deciding between drinks or preparations of food, he would always say, "let me bring you both and you let me know what you like." Everything from the caviar, foie gras and of course the steaks and their accouterments were absolutely delicious. But what also made this a unique dining experience was the dessert. There is an upstairs area of the restaurant that is wholly dedicated to dessert. To get there they take you on a tour through the kitchen and wine cellar where they have thousands of bottles stored, then upstairs to be seated at your own private table equipped with your own music control panel. Of course, the desserts are to die for. We will definitely be back and will talking about Bern's for years to come.

OMG! This is not just a place to eat, this is an experience! I am from Chicago, food is a big deal. This steak house is almost worth the trip to Tampa by its self! Look, if u r on a budget, don't waste your time or the negative reviews it's going to bring after. You are not just buying a dinner, this is a whole experience. UNLESS, you want to come here only for desert, that was amazing and by far the most reasonable priced. They could close the steakhouse and open a desert place only and make a killing! The selection and quality is like nothing I have ever experienced before. And if you are a Wine/alcohol connoisseur, you will have an orgasm just walking into the wine cellar. If this place was in chicago or I lived in Tampa, without exaggeration, I would be here over and over again!

We had a phenomenal experience in 1989 and another one tonight! Their steaks, wines and desserts are all outstanding. Service is impeccible. The area is completely different, but Bern's is exactly the same...and that is a good thing! Skip right to the steak page of the menu and make sure you make plans for a dessert room. You cannot go wrong.
