Nik Collection by DxO 2018 v1.1: promises kept!
Hello everyone,
We are pleased to announce the immediate release of Nik Collection by DxO 2018 v1.1, DxO's second update to the creative plugin suite designed for photographers and graphic artists. This version is completely compatible with macOS Mojave and the 2019 versions of Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop CC, and Photoshop Elements. It also corrects a certain number of interface and compatibility issues with other host applications.
Compatibility with macOS Mojave and the 2019 versions of Adobe software:
To ensure the best possible user experience, the Nik Collection was optimized so it could be fully compatible with macOS Mojave as well as the 2019 versions of Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop CC, and Photoshop Elements. DxO's development teams have also resolved issues that were left over from the Google version of the plugin suite, including problems with freezing when installing the macOS version of the software, block effects along the edges of the image, and compatibility issues with certain color profiles. In addition, the compatibility problems between Nik Collection by DxO 2018 and Serif Affinity Photo with macOS have also been resolved

A new home for the Nik Collection

We’ve finalized an agreement for DxO to acquire the Nik Collection.

In September 2012, we acquired the Nik Collection to give people more tools to create photos they absolutely love. Over the years, we’ve seen the direct result of that through the creativity of the Nik community with their photos.

In an effort to better focus on our long-term investments in photography such as Google Photos, we’re thrilled to have DxO, one of the most innovative companies in consumer imaging, acquire Nik and continue development of the collection.

Thanks to the Nik community for all your feedback, insight, and creativity on how to improve the tools along the way and for being a part of the community. You can learn more from DxO (, and continue to stay tuned here for future updates and news about Nik.

Today we’re making the Nik Collection available to everyone, for free.

Photo enthusiasts all over the world use the Nik Collection to get the best out of their images every day. As we continue to focus our long-term investments in building incredible photo editing tools for mobile, including Google Photos and Snapseed, we’ve decided to make the Nik Collection desktop suite available for free, so that now anyone can use it.

The Nik Collection is comprised of seven desktop plug-ins that provide a powerful range of photo editing capabilities -- from filter applications that improve color correction, to retouching and creative effects, to image sharpening that brings out all the hidden details, to the ability to make adjustments to the color and tonality of images.

Starting March 24, 2016, the latest Nik Collection will be freely available to download: Analog Efex Pro, Color Efex Pro, Silver Efex Pro, Viveza, HDR Efex Pro, Sharpener Pro and Dfine. If you purchased the Nik Collection in 2016, you will receive a full refund, which we’ll automatically issue back to you in the coming days.

We’re excited to bring the powerful photo editing tools once only used by professionals to even more people now.

This image caught our eye with its cool blue hues and simple composure, not to mention that this type of colorful image is a great twist on a monochromatic image.  Do you ever feel that you are drawn to colors that match your mood?  Does it affect your editing?  Like maybe red or orange hues are great if you are feeling energetic and free, but something like these blues may appeal more when you're feeling calm and content?  Something to think about.  Thank you +Peter Bredahl Dam for inspiring us!

Check out the striking color +Ivan Slade captured in an Australian sky... a calm and quiet scene, but the color is giving off so much energy that it is almost chaotic.  The way it plays with our emotions, tugging between peace and chaos is wonderful!
A lovely and kind of weird sunset yesterday over Narrabeen lakes on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia.

I found this fallen tree at the lakes a while ago and have been back many times trying to catch a good sunset. Yesterday finally delivered! Must have looked hilarious standing on one leg balancing on the tree over the water trying to get this shot....

Thank you to +Saurabh Paranjape for this fantasy-like shot in the Scottish Highlands.  The wide angle, slow shutter, and high saturation all mix together for an almost surreal landscape that we really enjoy!
Buachaille Etive Mor

If there's one thing this shot taught me, it's that preparation is everything.

This is one of my favorite shots from our Scotland trip and it almost didn't happen. I arrived at this spot in pouring rain, and given I had a very limited time in the Highlands, my choices were either a) wait it out or b) walk away. Of course, with a view like this, you wait it out. So, having researched this location before, I set up my gear exactly where I wanted, with exactly the settings I needed, and proceeded to wait for almost an hour in the cold rain with my jacket protecting the camera and midges proclaiming open season on any exposed skin.

I got about a 10 minute window where the skies above me parted and I was able to fire off some quick shots before the rain returned with a vengeance and I had to run back to the car to avoid losing my precious gear to the elements.
