Introduction

Born and raised in Omaha, Melissa Fry is happy that KETV has given her the opportunity to come back home. “I’m very passionate about this community, I am honored to deliver the news and share your stories.”

Melissa attended Millard South High School, where she swam her way into a scholarship to Illinois State University.

“I had fun at Illinois State,” Melissa says “but I also realized that there was no place like Nebraska.”

Melissa transferred back to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated as a Husker.

“My interest for journalism started when I was young” according to Melissa “It quickly developed into a passion when I began interning at KETV during my junior year of college.”

Just before graduation, she accepted a job at KLKN, an ABC affiliate in Lincoln, where she was a reporter and anchor for two-and-a-half years. Melissa joined KETV NewsWatch 7 in 2008 as a reporter and she now co-anchors KETV Newswatch 7 at 5.

She’s happy that KETV gave her the opportunity to come back home. “I’m very passionate about this community, I am honored to deliver the news and share your stories.”

“If I'm not out in the field, I'm usually hanging out with my family and friends. I enjoy working out, shopping and traveling -- especially to Kansas City.”
