Here are a few Jeni-Fit SUPER tips for surviving the Super Bowl. Over the next couple of days we will be sharing some tasty recipes to make your superbowl party a hit! Do you have a favorite go to party dish? Have you made a healthier version of a "classic" game day fare? Please comment and share your recipes.
-Don’t starve yourself on game day. Eat a healthy breakfast and lunch and a small fiber-filled snack before heading out. The odds of eating healthy will be in your f...avor if your stomach isn’t growling when you get to the party.
-When you arrive look at all the goodies before you dig in. Look for foods that are more nutrient dense, like raw vegetables, shrimp, lean meats, salsa, guacamole, fruit and nuts. Decide up front what your eating plan is for the night. Take small portions. You don't need to load up your plate, especially if you're likely to return for more. Just take a little bit and eat slowly. You might even consider only visiting the buffet line/food table once! BYOF (bring your own food) to ensure that one of above healthy choices will be there for you!
-A beer or two is fine, but more than that can add extra calories you don't need. Select light beer to shave off the extra calories. Drink water and seltzer between your adult beverages to slow down your alcohol consumption. Skip the soda and mixed drinks.
-Why fill up on tortilla chips you can eat any time? Look for interesting foods that you don't get to eat very often and try in small quantities.
-If you EAT salad, keep the dressing on the side and use it sparingly. You are aiming to eat no more than 1 TBSP of oil.
-Avoid anything deep fried. These foods contain altered fats that are pro-inflammatory and not good for your body.
- Focus on your friends, family and the game and not the food.
-Wake up on Monday get yourself back on track with mindful eating and your JeniFit exercise program!
