I had my first date with my wife here so it is special, but we are repeatedly disappointed. The service is lacking. My wife ordered decaf coffee and the server said it would have to be brewed. My wife said "okay" after ten minutes when the coffee never came, we asked. She said, "oh you wanted me to make it?". They staff doesn't seem knowledgeable of simple Italian dishes.

Terrible restaurant and terrible service. I have to go there for dinner to spend the Groupon voucher before it expired in a couple of days. The waitress was very unfriendly, never stopped by to ask for how the food is and never refilled water during the whole dinner. Guess what, at the end of this very unpleasant dinner, a 20% tip was forced to add into my bill because I used a Groupon vouch. I personally have no problem to leave a tip after the most awful dinner ever, but for 20%, are you kidding me? Never gonna go there again. Terrible restaurant and terrible service.

The servers were incredibly rude and they refused to honor their Groupon. The lunch prices were exorbitant and they do not advertise (except for a tiny sign on the unlit door ) that they are reservation only for dinner. Is their food ok? Decent, but nothing special. Go to Naples on Kingston 5-10 minutes away and you'll get a better experience, better food and your wallet will thank you.

My daughter and friend chose Savelli's to celebrate my daughter's 26th birthday... We had 7 pm reservations... I arrived before my daughter and her friend at 7 pm and was greeted by no one... No hostess at the front door... Only 2 couples waiting before me, with one couple also waiting on a hostess to greet them... When the hostess/waitress showed up, she told the couple in front of me that she would seat them as soon as she could... She totally ignored me... I noticed a few empty tables and wondered why she had not seated anyone waiting at those tables... I also noticed that the hostess/waitress was the only person waiting on the entire room (at least a dozen tables)... At around 7:25 pm my daughter and her friend arrived and because we demanded to be seated (having made reservations), the hostess/waitress seated us... She gave us menus and then we never saw her again... We chose what we wanted for dinner and wondered why she never came back... Finally, my daughter walked up to the counter and ordered our meals... Within a reasonable time, a young man (very polite) came with our meals...The food was marginal, and not the food I remember eating there in the past... The food was overcooked, over seasoned and very salty... We ate... Never saw the waitress or waiter again... We were ready to leave and no one had brought the bill... Again, my daughter got up and went to the food counter and asked for the bill to be brought to us... I put my credit card in the bill folder... After a good bit of time, no one came to pick up the ticket and my card... Again, my daughter gets up and takes the bill to the counter... We continue to visit among ourselves for quite a while... We decide its time to leave and I notice my credit card has not been returned... I get up to go find it... The restaurant staff is grouped together behind the food counter having a gab session... They have my credit card and bill taped on the wall and say they lost track of whose it was... Couldn't believe it... Worst restaurant experience I have ever had in the over 30 years that I have lived in Knoxville... Do NOT patronize this restaurant... They do not deserve your business... The next day I noticed on my online banking that the restaurant had charged me incorrectly... I had signed a bill for $24.59 + $5 tip and had been charged $54.59... I called the restaurant and spoke with the waitress (Kat or Cat) who seated us... I explained that the bill might be incorrect... She said that she had mixed up 2 bills the night before... She then reviewed what we ordered and I agreed with her on the amount of $54.59... I explained to her what a bad experience we had had the previous night... She told me that they were short staffed and had many people coming with groupons that they didn't have room to seat... I told her that should not have affected us because we made reservations and did not use a groupon... She offered to mail me a check for $10 because the service had been so bad... I gave her my address and she said that she would mail the check on the following Monday... I called back a few minutes later realizing that it would be a good idea for her to also mail me a copy of the correct receipt ($54.59)... A lady named Liz answered... I identified myself and she immediately lit into me telling me that I owed them $30... She yelled at me... Was accusatory... Told me that I needed to drive up there to pay them the $30 that I owed them... Would not let me speak... I finally told her that I had agreed on the amount that I had been charged ($54.59) and just wanted a corrected receipt mailed to me with the $10 off that Kat said she would mail to me... She continued to berate me... She sounded drunk... like a crazy person... Couldn't believe it! This restaurant should not be in business... I finally had to hang up on Liz because of her abusive language toward me... Can't wait for my next Italian meal at Naples, Altrudas or Bravos! Bon appetit!

Wasn't expecting much been when I walked in it was like I had entered an Italian Narnia. Great food! People are saying service is bad but they were good to me (not to mention good looking)! Most authentic feeling Italian restaurant I've been to in Knoxville.

I had never been to the restaurant, so called Savelli's prior to going there for lunch to get specific directions. I then asked if they had any specials for that day. A lady who didn't sound the least bit Italian and didn't know what the word "du jour" meant, even though that's French, identified herself as the owner told me "we don't do specials. What are those?" she went on with a snooty tone. I replied, "a special of the day for lunch, a dujour." She said they the du jour was only for soup and they had a fresh grouper for $40. I said that I was looking for simple Italian food and restaurants often offer lunch specials. She then turned West Knoxville snooty and said if I needed to "scrimp to go to on to Cici's Pizza and not bother with her place." I was astounded! I felt as if I was watching Restaurant: Impossible. Needless to say, it would be impossible for me to consider this restaurant for actual dining. I guess lowly little me will go to Cici's, a successful chain. Actually I've never been there. Anybody know of a decent, authentic, one owner Italian restaurant in Knox area? Don't bother with this one if you're looking for good customer service and authentic ownership. I used to live in Vegas, and we'd go eat at a place that had Italian men in suits ordering wine and speaking Italian and an owner speaking Italian and approaching each customer like they were gold. This place was faux Italian, probably started by a west knoxville woman who has Irish German blood and watched too many cooking shows.

My girlfriend suggested that we meet for lunch here and after reading a review I was really concerned. When I walked in I was was embraced by the delicious fragrance of a REAL Italian restaurant. I immediately thought, I can't believe I am finally in a Italian restaurant in Tennessee. I was immediately met by Cathleen, the charming hostess/waitress, and given my choice of tables. The menu is extensive and covers all of the Italian dishes you could ever want. Since I had not had a decent pizza since moving here, that was what I opted for and could not have been happier. The crust was perfect, sauce was heaven and just the right amounts of pepperoni and cheese. I really thought I was in Little Italy in Chicago and almost expected to see Frankie and his chums sitting at the corner table. Another thing I loved about Savelli's and a constant gripe of mine - if you are lll a regional restaurant i.e., Itay, China, etc., they should play the appropriate music which this restaurant absolutely does - plenty of Sinatra, etc. crooning away italian classics. And of course, no meal is complete without dessert and if it isn't chocolate, it isn't dessert so the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was perfect. I just can't wait to go back and take everyone I know!
