POETRY by Naomi Wallace

VOLCANO, Earth and Fire

This is revelation.
The earth reveals its secret: it's not solid, eternal, dark, secure, our support;
The surface cracks a little, the veil is drawn aside, a truth is exposed.
Underneath is fire, power, force, destruction.
Our mother shows herself:
Not just woods and green fields, valleys and mountains, deserts and rich harvests;
Not just nurturing, giving, caring;
Not just belonging to us.
She has her own agenda, she has her own purposes, she is her own self.
We don't know her at all.
We cannot control this, we cannot use this, we must just stand amazed.
And know it is time to grow up.

They don't just wanna get laid they want to procreate.. To make more of their species.. Because time is infinite. What we call time is only a measurement.
May nature never die!

As far as we know, the first head of state to say "pantheist" about themselves.
José Alberto Mujica, president of Uruguay, addressed world leaders at the 68th session of the United Nations’ General Assembly.

The sun and moon are perfectly reasonable as objects of reverence, not that aren't others.

I've been thinking about this all year. After  my studying ancient spiritual systems, almost all civilizations used the sun or the sky as their deity. It is making sense to me now.

Revering the Universe - Caring for Nature - Celebrating Life
Pantheists revere and care for Nature, we accept this life as our only life, and this earth as our only paradise, if we look after it. We revel in the beauty of Nature and the night sky, and are full of wonder at their mystery and power. The World Pantheist Movement represents a naturalistic approach to pantheism. Our beliefs and values embody the following basic principles:
  • Reverence, awe, wonder and a feeling of belonging to Nature and the wider Universe.
  • Respect and active care for the rights of all humans and other living beings.
  • Celebration or our lives in our bodies on this beautiful earth as a joy and a privilege.
  • Strong naturalism - without belief in supernatural realms, afterlives, beings or forces.
  • Respect for reason, evidence and the scientific method as our best ways of understanding nature and the Universe.
  • Promotion of religious tolerance, freedom of religion and complete separation of state and religion.
The World Pantheist Movement exists to promote these beliefs and values, to make earth-honoring life-affirming naturalistic beliefs widely available as a spiritual option and a rational alternative to traditional religions, to facilitate networking among reverent naturalists, and to encourage formation of local groups.
