Meet Varditer - one of our female deminers in Nagorno Karabakh. She works hard during the week and her wages support her twelve siblings. "I am happy that we do something good for the nation. After our work, nobody else will explode or get injured."

In the Central African Republic, HALO's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team removed six tonnes of explosives and ammunition, and destroyed 80kg of unstable dynamite, which was being stored not far from the centre of Bangui with a hospital, schools, local businesses and many private houses in close proximity. Thus averting a potentially disastrous explosion - http://bit.ly/1gqilmi.

Some of HALO’s mineclearance maps are now discoverable and viewable to the world on the newly launched Google Maps Gallery. The featured maps help to tell the story of two mine-impacted villages – Biópio Village in Angola and Krivenik Village in Kosovo. Viewers can visit former and current minefields and see the number of mines cleared, pre-clearance accident reports and beneficiary stories.

Google has launched the Google Maps Gallery with the goal of making valuable mapping data, from non-profits, governments and businesses, more readily available to the world. The tool will help HALO continue to improve transparency in mineclearance, build awareness and to inform the public at-large about our cause. HALO was an initial content provider to the Gallery - alongside the National Geographic Society, the World Bank Group and the United States Geological Survey.
