I had a coupon which is why they got 2 stars instead of just 1--I saw Richard I was treated to passive-aggressive chiding for not dying my hair properly (his assistant said "oh is that why I had to put so much oil on it?"). He then proceed to STRAIGHTEN MY HAIR after the cut!?? dude what?! i came in with natural waves and his answer is to straighten it after you cut it? how do I know if it is a good cut or not? his reasoning was "you have beautiful hair, why bother having it so long if you aren't going to do anything with it." I guess he doesn't understand the ease that wavy hair is--sorry i don't spend an hour on my hair every day buddy. the cut was fine, i guess, it seems like every other cut I have ever gotten...sorry, not going back there.

Hi all I am a mixed chick with about 3 feet of hair. I had ken as my hair dresser, I was told that my hair could be simply flat ironed in 2 to 3 hours. Which shocked me because everywhere I have been it takes 5 plus hours. After all the promises and boasting it took five hours, and the help of richard and some other chick. My hair has heat damage and not even flat at the root, I have had better results at a hole in the wall place then here. For a company to charge 40.00 every half hour of work on your hair you would think you would get more. So I complained, and all that got me was the run a round. If you didn't mess my hair up why was i only charged 48.00. Ken knew my hair was a hot mess. When speaking with dean the owner he was like oh your hairs not damaged. it looks great, after I wouldn't budge on the subject he admitted it was wrong, He told me there was nothing else they could do for me and no one was going to touch my hair. So for there mistakes dean himself gave me some trail packets of conditioners and my 48.00 back. But this is funny the conditioners are for color treated hair which my hair is not. no offer to condition my hair back to the way they found it. Just this is all I can do and to not come back. And if Dean of Shadyside has a problem with this review I have the photo's of my hair with your companies work in the salon and my car after. I also emailed the photo's to you. and they are date stamped. Don't waste your money for these so called trained professionals.

Got a deal through groupon about a 8 months ago and I was paired with Ally. All around the salon is great, their level 1 stylists are much better than you would get elsewhere. Ally brought a higher level stylist over to consult on my coloring and I really liked being able to get 2 opinions. Overall Ally listened to exactly what I wanted and is a fabulous hairstylist, even if you don't have a coupon for their prices for level 1 stylists are very reasonable. I have waited until I went 4 times to write this review and each time Dean of Shadyside Salon has been consistently wonderful. Highly recommended, especially Ally.

I had a great experience here. I went to get some blonde highlights in my hair. My stylist was Krista, and she had her manager Richard come over to consult with me so they could figure out exactly what I wanted. Krista did a great job and I love the way my hair turned out. Instead of giving me just one shade of blonde, they put in about four different shades and it ended up looking really nice!

I was bit apprehensive because I have ethnic hair..but decided to go. Angela was fantastic. She explained everything she was going to do and explained what would/would not work with my color and texture. She was professional and friendly and recommended the Pureology line (which is organice, smells great and makes my hair silky and smooth, not to mention is anti-fade which is perfect to maintain color). I have never had highlights that were the absolute perfect "caramel" tome until she did them...the blowout and her flat iron technique made my hair stright, smooth and glossy. Recommend her to anyone.

I want to start by saying that Christina is an EXCELLENT stylist, and I'm disappointed that the poor experience with the salon has ruined a great cut experience for me. If the salon could stand on Christina's reputation alone, they'd be in great shape. Unfortunately, they seem to consistently find ways to tarnish their overall reputation at the cost of their stylists. I've twice now shown up for pre-scheduled and confirmed appointments only to be told that the appointment time is later in the day or, another week. Despite having the text confirmation that I was indeed in the right place, at the right time, I was given a simple "I'm sorry that you are upset", and told I can either see another stylist, wait several hours for Christina, or reschedule. After more than one of these instances, I will not be rescheduling - which is hugely disappointing me for as I love Christina, and she does an amazing job. If you care at all (silly me, I do) about showing up for a confirmed appointment and actually getting to have it, this is not the place for you.
