Art compatible with environment.
#BeachArt #Spiral
Reminiscent of ammonite fossils which can be found in some coastal rocks in the south, but this is Yorkshire, in the north. Perfect viewpoint and colour.

Simple layers, but with good texturing and colour effect.
Reminiscent of Max Ernst frottage work at base and with orb.

Nice mix: Native trees and Celtic knotwork.
Prediction: Celtic design resurgence.
#Celtic
Ogham tree calendar, based on the ancient Celtic belief that trees had spiritual significance and had mystical purposes that helped them through their lives.

2.5 million light-years away, Andromeda (M31), will collide with our Milky Way in 4 billion years. Then it will take another 2 billion years for the galaxies to merge, says NASA. They will make a new shape as we see with many galaxies.

Samhain in Autumn Leaves 1856
John Everett Millais - Pre-raphaelite.

#Pre-Raphaelites
Autumn Leaves ~ 1856 ~ John Everett Millais, English Pre-Raphaelite painter. Perfect for SAMHAIN (summer's end) All Hallow's Eve ~ 31st October /1st November

Millais founded the Pre-Raphaelite movement with William Holman Hunt and Dante Gabriel Rosette in 1848.

"The painting, which became known as Autumn Leaves, was designed to evoke a mood and a feeling of the transience of life and beauty – all is doomed to eventual decay, even the greatest innocence and beauty is overwhelmed by the passage of time. The painting is considered to be Millais’s masterpiece. He wanted the picture to awaken the deepest religious reflections with its solemn air and restrained coloring. The work was influenced personally by Alfred Lord Tennyson, one of whose works he was illustrating at the time, in particular by his poem The Princess. Autumn and dead leaves are favorite images of the poet."

Samhain

* Celebrated on November 1st as the Celtic (Pagan) New Year. Festival rituals begin at sunset on October 31st.
* Celebrated with jack o'lanterns, masks, bale fire and decorations of black and orange.
* Honoring the Crone Goddess, relatives who live in spirit and and the renewal of the Wheel of Life.s

Samhain History

* Samhain (commonly pronounced as sow-en) is also know as Samanna, or Samhuinn and the Celtic New Year.
* For the Celts, it marks the new year and the renewal of the Wheel of Life. It is the time when the old God dies and returns to Avalon (the land of the dead) and the Old Crone goddess falls into mourning for her consort.

Samhain Celebration

* There are many ways to give honor during this 3rd and final harvest festival. Honoring the Great Spirits for their help during the growing seasons and giving thanks for a plentiful harvest.
* The evening might begin with a quiet meditation for the purpose of contacting your loved ones in spirit. Or simply welcome your relatives into your home and talk with them about your year, your accomplishments and so on. You can light a candle in the name of each of your friends and relatives who have passed into spirit. Ask the Great Spirits to protect them and watch over them as they move onward with their souls journey.
