The MIT Shotokan Karate club was founded in 1974 by Sensei Kazumi Tabata. It is an Association of Student Activities Club Sport with about twenty members, including faculty members. The group welcomes beginners as well as anyone with experience in other styles.

They are currently preparing up for a visit to Japan.
