Tarrying In Prayer

"Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray." Mark 1:35 NLT

Some of us pray in private as we are to pray in public. What do I mean? We have no patience to spend time in the presence of God in prayer.

Isn't it funny that we gladly spend hours at the cinema seeing movies, but cannot spend even an hour beholding the face and the glory of the Lord.

Jesus prayed so much! And He was the Son of God! We can't do the works of Christ if we don't get ourselves to pray as much as He did. Let's devote ourselves to prayer: let's pray as Jesus prayed!

Here For A Little While

"How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone." James 4:14 NLT

Brothers and sisters, no matter how long a person lives on this earth, he or she will still have to leave someday. You can live up to two hundred years, but sir, you will not live forever: you will go as everyone before you went, if Jesus tarries.

Your situation on earth is temporal. Do you understand? Whether you are the richest man, or the poorest man on earth, it's temporal! Whether you are the most educated person on earth, or the least educated person; that too is temporal. Same thing if you are the greatest achiever or the least achiever; it's also temporal. Everything on earth is temporal!!!

But life itself is not temporal; it continues after you leave this world. Where will you spend eternity? The rich man died and went to hell; the poor man, Lazarus, died too, and went to the bosom of Abraham. Where will you spend eternity?

Become Stronger; Develop Capacity

"Later, however, when the Israelites became strong enough, they forced the Canaanites to work as slaves. But they did not drive them out of the land." Joshua 17:13 NLT

The Bible says that the descendants of Manasseh were unable to occupy the towns given to them because the Canaanites were determined to stay there.

Understand that the problem was not that the Canaanites were determined to stay on the land; the real problem was that the people of Manasseh were incapable of getting them out of the land. They were weak compared to the Canaanites. But when their strength increased, they succeeded in making the Canaanites to work for them.

What you are able to do, or unable to do depends on your strength. Some of us are where we are today because we are weaker than the challenges we face. Our fears are greater than our faith; our doubts are bigger than our confidence; our flesh is stronger than our spirit man: no wonder we have not been able to accomplish much.

You've got to grow in strength continually until you are able to deal effectively with the issues in your life. Sickness will bow to you when your faith is strong! Edify yourself continually; build up your capacity relentlessly. You have the potential to do wonders, but you've got to grow!

God's Great Love

"And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is." Ephesians 3:18 NLT

God is not wicked; He's not up there in heaven seeking who to devour; He's not the One responsible for natural disasters, accidents and unexplainable deaths; He hates no one, not even those who hate Him and want everyone to believe that He doesn't exist.

God is love! That's a major revelation! He is the love; He is the Spirit of love; every time we talk about love, we are actually talking about God without realizing it! We cannot even love without Him because love is of Him! He is the One Who puts love in our hearts!

He is not willing that any of us should perish: that's why He sent Jesus to die for us on the cross of Calvary. And that's why Jesus has not come back for the Church; because God wants many more saved! If we had a revelation of His love we would love Him more: for we love Him because He first loved us! His love for us is exceedingly great; it is wonderful; incomprehensible; it is everlasting; it is unchanging and reliable. Hallelujah!

The Practice Of Tithing In The Old Testament

“You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year." Deuteronomy 14:22 NLT

Tithing was not done monthly in the Old Testament, as it is today, it was given yearly. Of course, they were farmers and not salary earners, so their tithes were from their annual harvests.

The tithes were not always given to the Levites. In the first two years, the people ate their tithes in the place of worship chosen by God with their households. Eating their tithes was an act of worship, and the purpose was for them to remember God as their Source and honour Him.

At the end of every third year, the tithe of that year’s harvest was taken to the storehouse and given to the Levites, because they had no farmlands of their own. However, the Levites did not get all the tithes; the foreigners, the orphans, and the widows were also given of the tithes, so that they could eat and be satisfied.

When they tithed as instructed, the Lord blessed all the works of their hands.

May God bless the works of your hands, in Jesus name. Amen.

Money Is Very Good

"A party gives laughter, wine gives happiness, and money gives everything!" Ecclesiastes 10:19 NLT

There are people who say that money doesn't give happiness: it's not completely true, because with money you can do and get the things that make you happy. Some say that money cannot get you sleep: the truth is that there are some beds that I cannot feel comfortable sleeping on! But when you sleep on a good bed you will even have sweet dreams!

Money is not bad; it's the love of money that's bad and evil. Unfortunately, many of us, I mean believers, have love for money. It's easily seen in our words and actions. It's also easily seen in our songs and the songs that we choose to listen to.

God wants to give us money: yes, He is not against us having a lot of it; but we must have the right attitude towards money. God will not bless a person financially if He doesn't not trust the person to use the money well and to have the right character and attitude when there's money. Believe it or not money is a god and a master, and God will never share His glory or His worship with anyone and anything, including money.

May God bless you financially and may you live everyday of your life in His will. Amen.

Knowing The Plans Of God

"Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets." Amos 3:7 NLT

The Scripture clearly says that God never does anything without first revealing His plans to His servants. So whatever is happening now was revealed in the past, and whatever will happen in the future has either been revealed or will be revealed. Therefore, we don't have to be ignorant of the plans of God, especially for our lives.

We see it again and again in Scriptures. When God was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, He said, “Should I hide my plan from Abraham?” An angel was sent to Daniel, which said to him, "I am here to explain what will happen to your people in the future, for this vision concerns a time yet to come.” Through dreams too, God revealed to both Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar what was to happen in the world. Their dreams were interpreted by Joseph and Daniel respectively.

So how do we know God's plans for the future regarding our lives, our families, nations and the world at large? It's not mysterious. Jesus said, "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future." John 16:13. Knowing God's plans therefore, requires us to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit and to be attentive to His voice.

He can even tell you things about your job, business and studies! My prayer for you is that from today you will never walk in darkness. May God open your eyes to see, and your ears to hear, and your heart to understand, in Jesus name. Amen.

God Hates Oppression And Injustice

"And perhaps the Lord will see that I am being wronged and will bless me because of these curses today.” 2 Samuel 16:12 NLT

When God gave the Israelites the Law, He said to them, “You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way. Remember, you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. You must not exploit a widow or an orphan. If you exploit them in any way and they cry out to me, then I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will blaze against you, and I will kill you with the sword. Then your wives will be widows and your children fatherless." Exodus 22:21‭-‬24

In Genesis 29:31, the Bible says that, "When the Lord saw that Leah was unloved, he enabled her to have children, but Rachel could not conceive."

All through the Bible we see God, again and again, standing up for the weak, the helpless and the oppressed. And that's what God expects us to do as His children. Psalm 82:3-4 says, “Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people." We will be blessed as we do, in Jesus name. Amen.
