In February 2017, we opened a new, custom-built magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite on the first floor of the hospital that houses a new $1.25 million scanner. A key feature of our new MRI suite is a ferromagnetic detection system that helps to ensure a safe environment for patients and our staff. This system distinguishes safe non-magnetic metal objects from unsafe metal objects susceptible to magnets. It triggers visual and audio alarms any time a magnetic object comes close to the entrance of the MRI room.
