Google just approved our first CyanogenMod  phone

Man, the last 24 hours has been a total rollercoaster of emotions, and it isn't letting up it seems.

Google just approved our build for production... we're shipping the +CyanogenMod version of the N1 on Christmas Eve.

The longer I look at Valve, Steam machines, and SteamOS the more I think this is what will bring "Linux" to home users. Of course, they're already using Linux on their Android phones, DVRs and so on, but Valve is making it clear to their customers that Linux is what bringing their games to them.

That tone.

At 0:43 I knew that my 30 years of playing the guitar were wasted. There's no reason to continue.

Some people think so. Oh, and they're not small companies, or Android hackers, or Linux desktop fans, they're a pair of companies named HP and Lenovo. You may also know them as the world's biggest two PC makers.

Geminid Meteor Shower
The annual Geminid meteor shower peaks next week. Sadly, the Moon will be near-full brightening the sky for most of the night causing rates to be lower. However, the Geminids will still put on a good show pretty much anywhere that isn’t overcast, so don’t worry. Southern Hemisphere viewers will see lower rates, with the peak being ~40-60 meteors/hour in some locations, so you won’t be missing out as was the case for the Persieds earlier this year.
Use the Fluxtimator to estimate the rate in your location here:
http://leonid.arc.nasa.gov/estimator.html

Meteors will be visible when the radiant point is above the horizon from your location. The radiant point is in the constellation Gemini (Jupiter will be too, so get your binocs/telescopes), right next to the Orion constellation. You can spot meteors anywhere in the sky and it is not necessary to look towards the radiant point as some may believe. So go out, find somewhere dark, look up and enjoy the show.

So around here you see those "Keep Portland Weird" bumper stickers every once in a while.

.. but the "Keep Gresham a Squalid Suburban Cesspool" one was new to me.

Somebody is bitter.
