We Are Half Way There! (http://allcreaturesonline.blogspot.com/)
The Thanksgiving Food Exchange food drive is at the half way point and we have collected 291.5 lbs. Thank you! The next incremental goal is 500 lbs.

As a reminder, all the food you donate is delivered to Metrocrest Social Services (metrocrestservices.org). Then in December, All Creatures donates an equal weight of Hill’s® and Royal Canin Pet Food to Operation Kindness – the no-kill animal shelter in Carrollton. (operationkindness.org).

Thanksgiving Food Exchange: How Your Food Donation Turns into a Pet Food Donation to Operation Kindness

The Thanksgiving Food Exchange is a food drive with a twist we hold each November at All Creatures Veterinary Center (allcreatuesonline.com). We collect human or pet food from our wonderful clients and friends. The cans of corn, jars of peanut butter and boxes of cereal are weighed on the pet scale in our lobby and we keep a chart showing the weight of all the donations.

We give all the donated food to Metrocrest Social Services in Carrollton (metrocrestservices.org). Last year it was over 900 lbs. Then in December, All Creatures donates an equal amount of Hill’s® and Royal Canin Pet Food to Operation Kindness – the no-kill animal shelter in Carrollton.

We are going to continue the Food Exchange this year and our goal is to collect and donate 1000 lbs. of food. So even if you aren’t one of our clients, feel free to bring your human food donations by our office at 2525 E Hebron Pkwy. at Marsh Ridge Rd. It will do double duty by helping the cats and dogs at Operation Kindness (operationkindness.org).
A list of commonly needed items from Metrocrest’s web site: Peanut butter, Canned fruit, Mac & Cheese, Flavored rice & pasta “helpers” & “ronis”, Breakfast Cereal.

Oravet Dental Month: Signs of oral and dental diseases in dogs and cats
What should you look for to know if you pet has dental problems. To begin with, perform routine mouth inspections of your pet. The best way is to look at your pet’s mouth during fun or casual time with them. Get a good idea of what normal looks like for pet’s mouth, then you will be able to see problems when they appear. Look for these issues:
[Go here (https://allcreaturesonlineco.vetmatrixbase.com/custom_member_content/c_8904_how_to_examine_your_pets_teeth_and_gums_.html) for a full instruction on How to examine your pet's teeth and gums - 4 easy steps!]
- Bad breath.
- Loose teeth or teeth that are discolored or covered in tartar.
- Your pet shies away from you when you touch the mouth area.
- Drooling or dropping food from the mouth.
- Bleeding from the mouth.
- Puffiness on one side of your pet’s face
- Loss of appetite or loss of weight (this can be a symptom of other problems as well so never ignore these issues in your pet).
If you think your pet needs dental care, we will exam you pet’s teeth at no charge during September as part of our Oravet Dental Month. DENTAL DISCOUNT - For the month of September, we continue our 30th anniversary celebration with 10% off all pet dental procedures (canine or feline). Offer ends September 30, 2016.
