The guy who was passionate about photography, stage lighting and Landrovers, owned a red setter and, together with a wife I'd never swop who I courted after appearing at the Royal Festival hall, brought up three wonderful children. Oh - and did a tremendous amount for the National Trust too.
surprisingly influential - Tate Modern wouldn't be there but for a decision of mine, the films 'Alien' and 'Batman' would have been made abroad if I hadn't said 'yes', and there's lots of young people out there who experienced some pretty good character building projects I've led. Not to mention the rough country work done in the past,in forestry and car rallying. And of course, the novels I've thoroughly enjoyed writing - all with tucked-away dimension to them.
