If your Family History Center does not have one of these, beg them on your knees. This computerized machine is a game changer.

I wrote the two on top. They are "27 Cottage Place" and "1800 Kilometers
in a Fiat 500". There are reviews on Amazon.

This is a small part of a 1750 notary record involving one of my ancestors, Martino Barbella.  It is Italian, and I'm told it is written in "Church" Latin.  In any event, it is a struggle to read.
Those apostrophe looking things are supposed to be some type of shorthand for missing letters.  The one circled in black almost looks like "Mr. Martino".
The one circled in red appears multiple times in front of the village name, Sassano.
Anyone recognize this shorthand notation?

I am a retired engineer. I have a wonderful family about me, and nothing could please me more. Genealogy, history, music, and ham radio are a few of my interests.
Introduction
I am the author of "27 Cottage Place", a memoir about growing up in Tarrytown, New York.and "1800 Kilometers in a Fiat 500", the story of a genealogical odyssey through southern Italy.

You can easily purchase a copy of these books on Amazon.com or from the publisher:

1800 Kilometers in a Fiat 500

My love of history includes Tarrytown, and the land of my
ancestors, Italy.  I love researching our family names which
include:

Hammond,  Kittle, Strong,
Tricarico, Barbella, DeCristofaro, Mascola
Trinelli, Galatro, Sorice, Fornino
Lattanzi

Rifugiomare is a place from a fairy tale. The view is spectacular; The rooms are creatively done and exceptionally clean. The best part of our visit was meeting the hosts, Bruna and Bepe, two very fine people.
