This is a continuing saga of our research trip to Southern Italy in search of ancestral data.  In this post, we get one more surprise visitor, say good by to the farm in Palo del Colle, and begin our journey north to Chieti.  First, we stop in the village of Trani for a little research at their Archivio di Stato

What a great day at Saint Anthony's Festa in Boston. This is a wonderful place to learn a little about Italy, hear the language spoken, and, of course, assuage your hunger

Lucky enough to live in the North End in the early 1970s. The bread! Especially the rolls that would come out of the oven at 5AM, and even though they were destined for restaurants or hotels, you could buy a few out the back door. The pizza - thin or thick... The butcher shops, where butchers would make hamburger out of what appeared to this Mainer to be fabulous cuts of beef. Goats and rabbits hanging in their windows. (Sorry, Sanjay Gupta, was only reminiscing... I meant it when I said it was fruits and vegetables from hereon, hopefully, maybe.)

Rifugiomare is a place from a fairy tale. The view is spectacular; The rooms are creatively done and exceptionally clean. The best part of our visit was meeting the hosts, Bruna and Bepe, two very fine people.
