Looks like +TootsvilleOrg isn't getting copies of the Tootsbook.com posts for some reason.

I imagine that, by now, everyone has heard the word; but just in case:

Michael Burton, Daddy, friend, mentor, and a great man (and not a half-bad woman on the odd occasion) has taken his final bow, leaving the world this morning peacefully; and taken with him Dawn Montgomery.

Thus ends 60 years of man who never took shit from anyone, never left any doubt about where you stood with him, and who I am dearly proud to have called a friend. The world will always be a little dimmer without him.

As he wished, there will never be a funeral; a celebration of his two great lives will be held on 1 December at METRO Entertainment Complex in Jacksonville. If you knew him, be there. If you didn't know about the great man who inspired so many, who accidentally won a drag pageant, who didn't quite hit that fat boy with a train, who made such a positive difference in so many lives — come and find out something about the man who will be missed so much.

He said he'd demand a $25 surcharge to anybody who cried at this party. There was so much joy that he brought into the world, he didn't want to be remembered through tears.

Michael joins his brother and mother, and leaves behind his three kids, plus ten thousand more of us who also called him “Daddy.”

Start by admitting from cradle to tomb
Isn't that long a stay
Life is a cabaret, old chum
It's only a cabaret, old chum
And I love a cabaret

Sharing this because it's never a bad time for pictures of kittens being adorable, right?
No captions required, although the kittens in the picture are Tangerine Dream Sherbet and Binary the LOLcat by Remy, so it seems almost a shame to not caption them.

MMO game server code. documentation on +TIME-ENOUGH+ constant in the physics code:

"Enough bits to represent any reasonable “current” time.

Adds an order of magnitude to the number of bits needed to represent
the time at which the program was compiled, allowing twice as long to
have passed since 1970.

I assume that `GET-INTERNAL-REAL-TIME` (in msec) will not yield values
greater than `GET-UNIVERSAL-TIME` (in sec) in actual use.

 • How safe is it to use this figure for assigning types to integers?

So, if compiled in 2013, this means it will have at least enough bits
to handle ~44 years doubled (= 88 years = 2058). This means the game
will not need a restart until around 2058 to ensure stability, because
this constant might have been used to optimize all sorts of
functions. In point of fact, the actual value currently computed is
272+ years, so we can probably safely chug along until 2285.

When (ab)used to represent (GET-INTERNAL-REAL-TIME), however, the
value drops by a factor of 1000, which means the functions are only
guaranteed to remain valid if the host reboots a bit over every 99
years."
