The beer selection was great, but the nasty attitude from the female red headed bartender is just ridiculous. I even went back a second time because I had heard so many good things about the place. But she was still a total bitch to both me and my friends! Between the horrid service, the lack of parking and the drunk driving I just don't get what the appeal is! Is stay away and go somewhere friendly.

Best bar in town. Over an acre of river front property. Horseshoes, corn hole, etc. Lots of charcoal grills that you can use. Great community of people that are regulars. And the bartenders definitely take good care. It is a private club, so be prepared to join for 5 bucks if you are not a member already. Last but not least... Canoe/kayak/tube down the French Broad to the Bywater. There's a put in here.

The Bywater is my favorite place to hang out in Asheville! The staff is friendly, attentive, and engaging. They have brought a lot of life and activity to an area that was formerly pretty grimy and industrial (and a nice break from the downtown drunk-fest). As the previous reviewer mentioned, parking can be a pain, but I have always found a good spot with a little patience.... and speaking of the last review...what??? The grills are great and the prices are affordable (quite a change for Asheville). There are bike racks built into the front porch and lockers in the back. Very family friendly and no attitude. I wish very bar could be like this!

I very much like the Bywater, location, drink selection and a family atmosphere that can't be matched. Very unique place. Chad the owner I have known for sometime and he conducts his business in an ethical and socially conscious matter. Highly recommend the Bywater.

This place is perfection for a certain type of folk. Turns out...I'm one of those folks. One of my first thoughts upon taking in the scene was, "I wish there was something like this by my house!" Made me want to live in Asheville.

Even on a rainy Monday night, it was a nice place to hang out and hear some laid back open mike jams. It was cozy, good crowd, fair priced drinks...can't wait to see what it's like when it warms up!

The largest supplier of Drunk Driving in Asheville. The people that go there are the biggest hypocrites. They all drive subaroos. This place has a parking issue. It is a nuisance to it's neighbors. It is nice to see a place be so successfull, from nothing. They don't do anything except provide drinks. The losers that drive there, then drink for a premium, grill food on Dog knows what filth, then drive home, should get a life, outside of Asheville. It doesn't help that every kayak trip takes two vehicles. Is there anyway to carpool after the boating trip? I see 2 boats at most on your vehicles, hypocrites, posers, lame-O's. This is a beautiful place to live and ride a bike. Y'all ain't doin nothin to make Asheville a better place. Your taking from it. We take down takers. Reduce your Drunk Driving. Bring your bike.
