Here's a circle of interest from Thomas Hawk.

Thanks Thomas
2500 Kick Ass Google+ Photographers (part 3 of 5)

This is the fifth time I've shared my photographer's circle on Google+.  I'm going to share it in 5 posts.  Last week I shared last name A-Da, and Da-Ho.  Today's , part 3 of 5, today, represents Ho-Mi.  I'll share the remaining two tomorrow and Thursday.

I originally shared my photographers circle at 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 photographers.  I'll probably share it again eventually when it gets to 3,000.

A few notes about this circle.

The criteria that I look for (and don't always get right) in this circle is that the photographer produce interesting and engaging photography.  I also look for people who are active in the community, post mostly their own work, and post regularly.  I'm looking more for people who post their own work and less of the noise stuff (gifs, links, non-photography, promotions, etc.).  I also like people who are positive, friendly, nice, helpful, etc. and dislike people who are mean, snarky, jerks, disrespectful, etc.

I have a pretty well known bias against signatures and watermarks.  You will see very few photographers in my circles who use them.  I really hate the watermark debate and would rather not have it with folks.  I just don't like them -- it's my circle that I have to look at.  There are likely a few folks in here who use them who are friends of mine, but for the most part, this is a pretty watermark free circle.  It's totally cool if you love your watermark, it's just not something I really want to look at.  Please don't hate me for my aesthetic preference.

Finally, the photography community on Google+ is probably the best one on the internet today.  There is no way that I can possibly include all of the fine photographers worth following on G+.  There are wayyyyy too many.  These are just 2,500 that I personally have noticed.  I'm sure I left out some really amazing ones -- like you if you are not in this circle :)  I'll probably also totally kick myself when I realize that I accidentally left out a really obvious good one who may even be a friend of mine -- again, maybe even like you.  :)

Stay tuned for parts 4 and 5 and thanks again to all of the great photographers on G+ who make this place such a delight to hang out.

*Note, Google Circles are terribly wonky.  It wouldn't let me add some photographers in my circle into these circles because of "domain errors."  If this affected you, sorry about that.

Wonderful verse to accompany this image or a yellow rose.
"Just remember in the winter, far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love in the spring becomes the rose."  Lyrics from, The Rose - Amanda McBroom

Iconic landscape image of the gasthaus at Ebenalp, Appenzell, Switzerland
Last weekend I went on a wonderful photowalk in the #Appenzell  region of #Switzerland , organized by +Evelin Inauen.  It was a fantastic walk and I can't thank Evelin enough for all she did. I don't know the exact count but, there where around 26 people on the photowalk.  In addition to the main photowalk, Evelin organized a pre-walk BBQ (walk) on Friday night and a post-walk hike to a beautiful waterfall in the region on Sunday.

This building is a famous local interest gasthaus.  It's hard to imagine a set of photos of the region that doesn't include a photo of this iconic building, nestled tightly beneath the overhanging cliff on the side of Ebenalp, Appenzell, Switzerland.

             Rules / thoughts for the
                Critique Section

• Images placed in the critique section should expect critique.
• Glowing praise should include what you like about the image.
• If you want people to tell you how great your images are, then one of the other sections are better for this.
• people offering critique should be polite and respectful.
• Critiques should not be personal.
• people receiving critiques should be polite and respectful.
• Critiques work best when the person receiving the critique does not try to convince the critic that the original choice was correct.  Listen to the critique, weigh it's value to you, decide for yourself if it makes sense.  Thank the person who took time to offer critique even if you don't agree.
• Disengage immediately if it becomes personal.

•  Standard disclaimer when I do a critique:
Art is in the eye of the beholder.  My art is different than your art.  My vision is different than your vision. The comments I offer are not truth; they are my opinion. :-)

Just had to share this form the studio page. :-)
I was looking back through some old images and I cam across this wild columbine, a Aquilegia vulgaris L.  This is native to Europe and grows wild all over Switzerland; where it is protected by law.

This is a n old image that I just processed today.  This was shot with a black background and is being added to my "On-Black" collection.

Today I would like to share this circle from +Rinus Bakker and the team at +HQSPPromotion.  Thanks for putting this together.
.
HERE WE ARE!
THE FIRST HQSPwinners circle ever but surely not the last one!
Here you find all contributors to +HQSPPromotion page who's contributions have been selected by our team as excellent and outstanding contributions of the day and hence exposed on +HQSPwinners page!
Please add and share the circle If you want to encourage this people to go on with their great contributions!

Unfortunatelly we could not add over 30 winners because they have not added the +HQSPwinners yet so far :(

If you find your share on the +HQSPwinners  but you are not in the circle and you have added the page, please leave a message here, so we can correct this at next share.

Have a wonderful summer and lots of HQS fun!
