Organics have Never Been Under Such Dire Threats!

Organics are now being profoundly threatened by a number of potentially devastating votes that will take place by the USDA's National Organic Standards Board (NOSB).

Please print out the hyperlinked proxy letter and mail it to Cornucopia for hand delivery at the rapidly approaching NOSB meeting. Corporate lobbyists will be present, and so will the Cornucopia Institute, to counter their obnoxious claims and make sure your voice, in support of organic integrity, is heard. Help stop this impending madness!

Signed proxy letters should be mailed to:

The Cornucopia Institute
PO Box 126
Cornucopia, Wisconsin 54827

"America" is a brand! Great notion!!

"Once we started torturing people and violating the Geneva convention, whatever right we had to a notion of American exceptional-ism went out the window. Now what we have to do is simply earn back the brand we used to have..."

On OWS:

"What began in Zucotti park, spread all over the world, and I I don't know what's gonna happen in those parks going forward, but I don't think it matters. I mean, think about how different the national conversation is today from six weeks ago. Six weeks ago we were arguing as to whether it was okay to accept $10 in deficit reduction for one dollar in tax increase, right?

I mean that's a completely ridiculous argument. It was a ludicrous thing, and we were arguing whether that was okay or not. What are we arguing about today? There aren't enough jobs. The income in America is being captured by a artificially small group of people who have structural advantages. They are not gaining all this because their smart and or working harder they are getting this because, you know they are people like Murdoch at, at news corp they're guys who, you know, for all intensive purposes have political friends who protect them from competition and protect them from having to work hard." -- Roger McNamee

Great data -- the kinds of stuff I often presume to think I've read somewhere, but here are the hard numbers, accompanied by well-crafted visualizations to help put the numbers into scalable perspective.

In the Wall Street Journal today (opinion by Gerald O'Driscoll, former VP of Texas Fed): "... in the EU, the banks support the government by purchasing its bonds, the government guarantees the banks. It is a Ponzi scheme not even Bernie Madoff could have concocted." Uhhh -- isn't this the same relationship that Wall Street banks have with the U.S. government????

Brilliant: a flowchart to help you choose the next fantasy/sci-fi book you should read. Based on NPR's list of the top 100 sci-fi/fantasy books of all time.
