Thelonious Mac is my Internet nom de plume. I am a self employed computer consultant in the Los Angeles area primarily working with small and medium sized businesses. My primary expertise is using Apple's technology in the enterprise. I've been an Apple guy for quite a while, since 1985 actually. If you're in Los Angeles and you need a Mac guy, for whatever reason, give me a shout out and I will get in touch with you asap.
I am personally a big geek. I love science fiction, techno-thrillers, and spy novels. I grew up on Star Trek, so when the Star Trek/Star Wars ultimate smack down comes, you know what side I'll be on. I love gadgets of course. I love science, philosophy.
I also tend to lean libertarian/conservative in politics. This does not mean I want to put old people and children out in the streets for you extreme leftys. It means that when it comes down to it yeah, I do trust business more than I trust a big government. Businesses can't arrest me, kill me, or permanently detain me, or extraordinary rendition me, or torture me, because I happen to like hummus. Big government scares the crap out of me, and I feel it should you as well. Have you not seen/read 1984, Equilibrium, etc. Dystopia always starts with the people pushing for egalitarianism and doesn't stop until we're all wearing uniforms and saluting Big Sister.
The evil totalitarian entity is always the government. Hell even Darth Vader's Empire looks like the United States vs. the plucky Libertarian rebels. Same for Firefly. It also seems to be the way of the real world. Heck, now that I think about it, Picard's Federation was suffering from creeping totalitarianism itself. I'm all about the freedom of the individual.
