Doesn't see my USB stick.

I used a USB stick to install Ubuntu Gnome. Now that I'm running Ubuntu it doesn't recognize when I plug in the USB stick. I was told I might need to download a USB driver. Is this right and if so where do I find it?

Today I watched my OS boot. I noticed this message and have no idea what it means. Is this a problem or just a slow drive? I see it mentions a swap drive. I have a swap partition. I created it with gparted. The swap partition is 2 gigs. What do I need to do?

Today is the day I decided to dump windows for a linux distro. I chose Ubuntu Gnome as my OS.
I tried it and others out on a virtual machine for past week or so.
I'm sure there will be some growing pains as I travel down this path but, I think I have made the right choice. Just a warning to you all, get ready for a lot of questions in the near future. ;-)
Well got to get off the phone as the install is complete and I gotta do the restart.

Ty +Leslie Solorzano I already have adafruit element14 and many youtube vids for starting with the pi. Even have every Magpi fanzine. In issue 19 they started a really advanced article on makibg a drone. Wrote to em and thanked em sooo much. Even though its still far from my skill level I read it a researched it and then emailed em my enthusiasm. They even used my email in next issue.
I'm not a total idiot (but close). I figured out how to make an auto mated tasker profile to complete hands free car mode for my phone. Its a lot like loops and if statements as in programing. Not the same but close. I may be slow but slow n steady wins the race!

Whether we follow a religious path or not, as human beings we all need affection. Warm-heartedness gives rise to the self-confidence and inner strength that supports a calm mind. Peace of mind in turn contributes to our physical health. This is based on the fostering of the basic human values that I promote as secular ethics.

Try to remain truthful. The power of truth never declines. Force and violence may be effective in the short term, but in the long run it’s truth that prevails. Being honest and truthful engenders trust and trust leads to friendship and a good reputation. Because we all need friends, honesty and transparency are a basic aspect of human nature.

So I wondered why Linux had a penguin as mascot. This is what I found.

Few questions. I have beenrunning Ubuntu Gnome for couple days without major problems. My questions are
Is there a way to put icons on desktop for quicker access? Can anyone point me to a begginers guide to setting up compiz ( I really want that sphere desktop). And lastly I would like a break down of command line prompts. What I mean by the las t one is, when entering commands what does each part mean, is there a set pattern to their make up?
I would rather know what I'm typing in rather than just typing what some one has told me to.
Any help in these areas would greatly be appreciated.

#CONAN Mono: It's been reported that President Obama asked HBO for copies of the upcoming season of "+Game of Thrones." You know things are bad in this country when even the White House can't afford HBO. More JOKES @ http://teamcoco.com/jokes

Hello, I'm new to linux. So please be forgiving. I'm trying to use gparted to split my hard drive to install ubuntu. I can get gparted to run from usb but it won't let me change the min max for the current windows partition. I have a 500 gig drive I want to make it 200 for windows 200 for ubuntu and 100 for them to share storage. First is this possible and right? Also why won't gparted let me change to min or max?

Just remember that most of the problems you will run into probably have simple solutions. Always try the easier things first.
