This is totally off question but I would like to be added to the Philosophy Club. Eric originally invited me and gave me a code off which I forgot 1 or 2 letters or numbers. I had just had major back surgery and was not in very good shape. As it is now, it's only been 4 months since the surgery. However I much better off.
Some background: at the age of 17, I enlisted on the US Marine Corps and spent my 18th year, 1967-1968 in the Marine Infantry in Vietnam.
Returning from war, I was very angry about the waste of life on both sides. I went to college where I promptly joined SDS, getting myself arrested at the Black Panther shoot out In South-Central LA.
I went on with my studies receiving both a BA and MA in Philosophy from Cal State. University, LA. Metaphysics has always intrigued me, especially coming close to death many times in Vietnam. After searching the different religions, I adopted Buddhism and spent 3 years as a Buddhist monk in Taiwan.
Kant and Nietzsche are my particular favorite philosophers. I am also very interested in Philosophy of Language and most of the areas of philosophy, with the exception of aesthetics.
I hope I qualify for the club, especially as my health has improved and I will again have an opportunity to use my reference materials to hopefully, contribute meaningfully to club discussions.
