I bought a refrigerator from Lowe's and got a protection plan/warranty. River City Appliance was one of the authorized repair people so I had an appointment scheduled on a Tues from 1-5pm. I had to take the day off since I work full time on weekdays (it was a hassle trying to get the day off since my boss never grants day s off) So I was patiently waiting for them to get there and I looked at the clock and it was 4:30pm already. I called Lowe's to see what was going on and they told me that River City had cancelled since nobody could come out. I was very upset because they didn't even bother to call me! What angered me even more is that I rarely get the chance to take a day off and my refrigerator was going to remain broken until I do get a day off...it's probably going to be another few weeks before I do. Don't come to these people.

I called at about 10:30 AM to inquire about someone looking at my gas range, and was greeted by a very nice woman who answered all my questions. She checked on the availability of a repairman and promptly called me back. The fellow who came by arrived at about 2:30, quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired it. I have no idea what these things should cost, but they charged me 69.00 for the visit, which was then applied to the total bill, which I thought was pretty reasonable at 180 bucks for replacing an igniter with only a few hours lead time. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

I am extremely satisfied with the prompt response I got from River City...on a Saturday no less! I was having a problem with my washer on a Sat afternoon and was desperate to find someone to come out to fix it before Monday. Ron was able to come out within an hour of calling. He was very professional, friendly and helpful. I can't believe I was able to get the quick service I got on a weekend without a huge weekend bill. The service call rate was very reasonable...less than I have paid for weekday service. I will definitely call River City again! Michelle Jannenga

So far so good. I called and was greeted by Casey (for whom this rating is for - I'll revise as I get through the whole experience with this provider). She's just awesome! Here's why: Not everyone has the same aptitude for technical and/or repair work. I had already done an extensive troubleshooting effort with the manufacturer on my washer before I was referred to a local repair shop. However, I was hesitant to call for a service call so that the service tech can tell me what I already knew. I called on another repair shop (the manufacturer gave me three contacts). That other place told me the only discussion they'd have with me about my problem would be at the diagnostic meeting for which he was eager to schedule and I'd have to pay for it whether they could identify the problem or not. Casey, on the other hand, seem genuinely more focused on a long term relationship with me. I had a question about my basic set up (i.e. tankless water heater, water pressure, water volume) and it's compatibility with my subject washer. I said until I can confirm that I do not have any incompatibility between what my house set up was and the washer specs, I didn't need a repair tech. She was very informative and willing to get that basic information squared away. The other shop didn't care. They needed $$ from me before they were wiling to speak with me; which in my book is a no-no. I'd never pay anyone first before I know their competency level and I'd recommend you do the same. Once Casey is able to confirm that my basic home set-up is able to support the subject washer then, I'd be very willing to ask for a tech to further examine my appliance.
