When doing genealogy you never know where you might find original records online these days.  For example, on the Hidden Genealogy Nuggets website, you can find original birth, marriage and death records for Newtown, Connecticut.  This includes scanned images of the original records.  You may not find these scanned images anywhere else on the internet.  For more information visit the website.

Mystery Monday: Can you identify which school this album is from?

It's a school photo album from about 1888 from Revere, Massachusetts.

Back in 2013, a series of blog posts were started entitled "Genealogy by the States".  This series looked at some family connections to each of the states in the order the state entered the union.  It also highlighted a few genealogy resources which were available for each state.  You can view these posts and resources at the link below.

There are tens of thousands of indexes loaded into our research database.  Some of these records have not been indexed anywhere else.  Most of these records are local to Connecticut.

Have you done a bit of genealogy and are wondering how to start writing about your ancestors?  There are many techniques you can use, but the key is to just start writing.  You do not need to finish finding out everything about your ancestor because if you did, you would never start.

Check out the blog post below to see how you can use census records to start writing about your ancestor.
