The theme for the 2015 Pathways Togo annual middle school and high school conferences was women's empowerment. 

To compliment sessions teaching the girls how to empower both themselves and their communities, the media team led a discussion about the barriers girls face to empowerment here in Togo.

Each girl defined her own greatest obstacle to empowerment and using a photography technique "forced perspective", we helped arrange scenarios for them actually visualize being bigger than their problems. 

This video shares information on the barriers to girls education in Africa and introduces you to some of our most inspiring scholars. 

Each Pathways scholar will receive a copy of her portrait as a constant reminder of her own strength and perseverance.
