We have been talking about Baby Driver for a few months now on this site. After watching the first trailer, we knew this had the potential to be a special film. If you still haven’t watched the trailer, you can check it out above. You’ll see what we’re talking about. It looks incredibly entertaining.
.
And now we have confirmation from the critics. The early reviews are coming in and they’re pretty much all positive. It currently has 69 fresh reviews and just 1 rotten review.
.
Sara Stewart from the New York Post wrote that she was still thinking about the movie a week later, “It’s been a week since I saw ‘Baby Driver,’ and I’m still pleasantly buzzed.”
.
The USA Today’s Brian Truitt wrote this in his review…
.
“When all cylinders are pumping, Baby Driver is an enchanting experiment that puts the pedal to the metal. And even a few off notes can’t stop the beat of Wright’s fast and furious symphony.”
.
And Steve Persall from the Tampa Bay Times wrote this…
.
“Wright takes music video literalization to breathtaking heights. Baby Driver doesn’t operate from its hero’s point of view but rather his point of hearing, essentially the same thing. Wright’s ingenious approach literally turns the genre on its ear.”
.
That last review gets us really excited. I love films that mix in music seamlessly. A great soundtrack is just as important as anything else, so it’s nice to know Edgar Wright has nailed it.
.
The film hits theaters this weekend. Go check it out.

‘Get Out’ Director Jordan Peele Locks First-Look Deal With Universal, Get The Details Inside!

After the success of Jordan Peele’s directorial debut ‘Get Out,‘ the studio who picked it up and distributed it wants more. Universal Studios announced this week that they have signed a two-year, first-look deal with Peele.

What does this mean? Well, Universal will be first in line to produce, invest, and/or distribute films put out by Peele and his production company, Monkeypaw Productions.

In addition to that, Peele will produce a “wide range of films” via Monkeypaw for Universal. He’ll also be teaming up again with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum. The two previously worked together on Get Out.

Peele’s next film is expected to be another social thriller. He will write, direct and produce it. He’ll also be working with a budget that is five times bigger than the budget for Get Out.

This is a huge score for Universal. Almost all of the major studios were trying to seduce Peele, but obviously Universal had the upper hand because they got in early with Peele’s debut. It’s kinda like how you’ll always be attached (on some level) to the person who took your virginity.

Universal Chairman Donna Langley released the following statement:

“Through extraordinary imagination and fearless humor, Jordan has proven himself to be a game-changer who is driven to tell stories that are as commercially entertaining as they are disruptive and provocative. The entire Universal family takes great pride in his incomparable filmmaking debut, and feel fortunate that this studio will be Jordan’s home for many years to come.”

THE DARKNESS CONTINUES WITH NEW ‘JUSTICE LEAGUE’ TRAILER

A lot of people figured director Zack Snyder would get the message and make Justice League a bit brighter.

Did he do it? Did he turn up the fun? Maybe….

This new trailer for Justice League is slightly improved. It’s not nearly as dark as the trailers for Batman v Superman, and the music at the end certainly helps, so we’ll see what happens. - ->http://bit.ly/2oa2Dnq

THE NEIL ARMSTRONG BIOPIC STARRING RYAN GOSLING HAS AN OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE, GET THE DETAILS INSIDE!

Universal Pictures announced on Tuesday that the film will be released on October 12, 2018, which is a very awards-friendly release date.

It’s clear they are hoping this brings home a few Oscars. They certainly have the right team in place. It’ll be interesting to see Damien work on something outside of the music genre. Whiplash and La La Land were in a safe space for him. It’s nice to see him stepping outside it. - ->http://bit.ly/2nfl8Ch

It’s Official: Director Of ‘Cloverfield’ Will Direct The Upcoming Solo Batman Film, Ben Affleck Still Set To Star

They also confirmed that the title will be ‘The Batman,’ which is a bit surprising because it seemed like that was just the working title.

One interesting thing about the press release from Warner Bros. is that Affleck’s name is not mentioned. It makes you wonder if there was something to that “Affleck wants out” rumor we reported earlier this month. - ->http://bit.ly/2lCkO0R

You Need To Watch ‘Get Out’ This Weekend, Horror Film Has PERFECT Rating On Rotten Tomatoes

It’s not often a film gets past 50 reviews with a 100% rating. Jordan Peele’s psychological thriller about racism reached that mark, though.

In fact, with over 85 reviews counted, ‘Get Out’ still has a perfect rating on the site. 88 fresh reviews and 0 rotten reviews, with an average score of 8.2/10, which is absolutely incredible.

And the critics are using some grand statements in their reviews. Peter Travers of Rolling Stone wrote in his review, “A jolt-a-minute horrorshow laced with racial tension and stinging satirical wit. How is one movie all that? See Get Out, from debuting director Jordan Peele (one-half of the comic team of Key and Peele), and get woke.” You can watch the trailer here - ->http://bit.ly/2mjRHj5
