High poly model and scene by me, made in 3dsMax, rendered with Mental Ray.  ~13million Polys, with (several million) more for the water droplets added at rendered time.

The shape is based, loosely, on that of the black widow spider.

Geometry only render at ~7.5Kpx: http://fav.me/d9mink3

Enterprise vs Borg by Misrad Agic, one of the most imaginative pieces of Trek fan art i have come across in a long time.

Please zoom, its a high res file so may take a moment to load.

Free downloadable model, read on for information:

I decided to re-create the original LRV in 3D software, and to share the source file with textures, to anyone interested in downloading it.

Made with Autodesk 3DsMax 2012

So, it is done at last, textured with Max's standard textures, i know that it could have looked better with other textures, but i used the standard ones to maximise compatibility.

All these preview shots are from the file included, and you will find the model fully textured with all required maps included in the .RAR download:

Download the source via: http://hameed.deviantart.com/art/Lunar-Rover-Downloadable-3D-Model-With-Textures-439471995

If you want to see even more renders, as well as some huge 8K renders of the rover go here: http://imgur.com/a/px8fY

Plotclok

A peculiar clock that writes time on a white board with a felt-tip pen. Its design is open source and uses an Arduino board to control the mechanic arms that hold the felt-tip pen, whose software can be found on Github:  https://github.com/9a/plotclock.  Most of its pieces can be made with a 3D printer.
