Hi, Jay! This might be kind of a dumb question, but are the little air compressors that you get from the hardware store at all suitable for running an airbrush? It would be a lot easier for me to shell out the money if I knew that I was getting something that could use outside of my hobby pursuits. Thanks!

The special rule on the Errants is "self sacrifice", not sacrificial pawn. The rules are different (compare with Vindictus for clarification).

Lots to like here.  Definitely looking forward to the update.  Now that this is done, can we please see some stability upgrades to the PPDigital apps? Pretty please?

Here's the next step in my documentation of my first forays into #Battletech miniature painting (and miniature painting, in general for that matter).

I finally got a chance to prime the Whitworth.  I decided to go ahead and shell out the money for the Citadel primer, even though there are much cheaper alternatives.  The guy at the hobby shop told me that the viscosity on the Citadel primer was much lower than the stuff you'd get from the hardware store, so you'd be much more likely to keep the detail.

The painting guide from the Battletech introductory box set said to use two coats of primer.  I was a little nervous about that but I followed the directions anyway since I don't know what I'm doing.  I think it turned out okay though.

I think the next step is to get some Steiner blue on this bad boy and start making those colors pop.

So about 20 years after the fact, Mathworks has decided to add `strjoin` and `strsplit` to the core MATLAB routines. Congratulations, I guess?

Seriously, at this point I would have to think that anybody who needs utilities like this have already written their own (myself included).  All this is likely to do for me is to cause path-related headaches since I'm sure my functions and theirs aren't compatible at all.

Well, the idea is to have something a little more feature-filled. For instance being able to automatically insert '\\' between different tokens (for generating path names of arbitrary depth). I know that "fullfile" already exists for this particular case, but I think you get the idea.

By the way, good to have you back, +Jon Berry!

I could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure you still manage field promotions even when you have a UA. So if/when the officer dies, unit leadership is not in question.

Thanks a heap for putting this up. I've been interested in this game quite a bit. Unfortunately, I can't find anybody interested in playing... yet.

It's looking good on my Nexus 7 even though I don't think I'll be using it in landscape often. Being able to read my comics in portrait view without the panel to panel was one of the main reasons I picked the Nex7. The other was being able to fit it in my pocket. lol

I've started getting into Battletech recently. I've always really loved the idea of miniatures wargaming but have been intimidated by the idea of painting the models.  The Battletech came with 24 of these cheapo plastic minis that I don't really have to worry about messing up.  The first step with these models is to clean up all of the flashing along the model seams.  I'll try and document this process as I go through it in case anybody else is interested.

They paint up really nice... try using primer first on them and they'll paint up well...

Believe it or not, the sandwiches they make there are quite good. Better than Subway, in my opinion. The convenient location makes this a frequent lunch location.

I've had everything from the bún chả giò to the phở and hủ tiếu nam van. I have yet to be disappointed with either the food or the service here. A great local spot for Vietnamese food.
