We used a Groupon for 4 adults. Nikko refused to provide access to the entire menu, limiting Groupon users to a small and the cheapest portion of their menu. Total rip off. Most importantly, the place is disgusting. It is filthy and candidly so disappointing given it is in a Marriott. Plates were set with the filthy menus on top of the plates you are expected to use to eat. The floors are filthy. The entry way had spilled food on the floor that none of the lazy employees seems the least bit interested in cleaning up. There is no reason we would ever return.

We had a Groupon Coupon and noticed that reservations are required so obtained an 8:30 reservation. This was on a Monday night. We arrived early and were seated at about 10 minutes late. It was very busy and they were cleaning up what became our table from previous diners. Tables there are grouped in pairs with two cooking surfaces in each group with a cook for each stationed in a small work area that is between the two tables which makes for a very busy, noisy, cramped and unpleasant experience. The first thing I noticed on being seated is that the eating surface around the cook surface was still fairly dirty with leftover food particles. The cooking surface was also dirty with the surfce being extremely blackened in the center. Our orders were taken right away. Drinks, salad and soup were served immediately. This was the only thing that was prompt all evening. Finally about 45 minutes later our cook was available after finishing up at another table and then going over and completing the service at another table. We were 3rd on his list. He was very curt and tried to make up by cooking fast. He overheated the cooking surface and as a result my fried rice tasted of burning rice and eggs. The food he prepared for me was just OK. I have eaten at other Japaneses steak houses and this one was just terrible when compared to others. I have had much better. The cook tried to do a good job but he was in a big hurry so was not able to really put on a good show. The food was ample. After our cook showed up the second table's cook in our crowded eating area finally arrived (+20 minutes later at least). I estimate that the second group at the other table were well over and hour late in being accomodated. After our cook finished he cleaned (?) the cook surface while we were still seated. He poured on a great deal of water and started vigorously wiping with a fairly dirty rag and managed to slop dirty stained water off the cooking surface onto my wife's food plate as well as mine. How appetizing!!!! So the result is if you still want to go, go early so you are not third on the list for some overworked cook. Do not expect the best since it won't happen.

We went on weekday and were seated right away, there was a wait after we ordered before the soup & salad were brought out. If you purchase a Groupon keep in mind one meal WILL cost the amount of your Groupon or more. This place is pricier than others I've been to. The cook was very friendly and entertaining, however it seemed he really REALLY liked the Ginger sauce on everything and I do mean everything. We had shrimp & chicken and the salmon and filet all were doused in the sauce which in moderation is good but it was overkill on everything. I will be back for the steak, it was the highlight of the meal. For the price though... there are other establishments that have a better atmosphere and food in the same price range.

The service was exceptional. Once our chef came out, the waitress made herself invisible. Drink refills magically appeared on the table, dishes were carried away almost immediately after we had finished. The chef was professional, but very fun, had a great interaction with us as guests. H e tells jokes and keeps a conversation going while he pulls crazy stunts with knives scewers. It was a great experiance. While it is pretty pricy, its a great place for a special occasion.
