Happy #NewYorkFashionWeek ! In celebration we’re posting one of our favorite photographs from our Fashion collection, “Young Woman with White Horse” by Alfred Saerchinger. Fashion and art have had a long and productive relationship. In the early 20th century, publications like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar supported artists like Edward Steichen and Cecil Beaton as photography gained credibility as an artform.
Alfred Saerchinger, a contemporary fashion photographer, hails from Cologne, Germany. Before turning to fashion, he worked in advertising photography and design. He was appointed to the Bund Freischaffender Fotodesigner, the German Association of Freelance Photographers, in 1977. We love this surreal composition with its stark whites and rich textiles.
