This little web-based growl-simulating message notification library looks pretty slick!  I could see a lot of ways to use that, of course.

Is trade with AI deterministic?  So far I'm 3 for 3 on instantaneous trade, while tech levels made it possible.  This changes much (at least, in this part of the early game).

I just have to say, you've created something special Jay!  I find myself really anticipating the next move, the next event, and a little bit unable to react due to having limited resources, and despite planning my ship movements, having no idea how other players are going to screw it all up.

So in summary: the anticipation is palpable!

Debian extended security support into 2015!

Have to pop some additional software sources in, but that's great, I kept thinking that I had to upgrade the OS now now, despite it's unbeatable security currently and well, now I've just upgraded the security features instead.

Mysql only allows you to log slow queries over a second.  Aw.  And this is the patch that would allow you to log even slower queries for performance, but it's an actual patch, so you have to actually patch mysql to even get that list.  I totally don't get how this is possible with such a high-performance-needed system as a relational database.  Is almost no-one logging slow queries, or is almost everyone dealing with really slow queries that take longer than 1 second anyway?  Very strange.
