What is it about sliced cheese? When the person behind the deli counter hands you a packet of slices, it's so hard not to open the bag and start peeling them off to eat right in the store. We now carry local cheese made with water buffalo milk, courtesy of Fading D Farm in Salisbury, NC. Here’s a photo gallery from last week’s Community Food Sort. Over a dozen volunteers came out at 7:30 AM to fill bags with food for TABLE’s Summer Backpack Program. Then we carted the bags down West Weaver Street to TABLE’s office. TABLE still needs volunteers for this summer. Read more.

Read about the challenges of fair trade coffee farmers.
I was fortunate to be invited to join an Equal Exchange Co-op trip to Chiapas, Mexico to meet with coffee cooperatives in the area. I also met with human rights groups and other grassroots organizations that are active there.
