I'm am American who loves SOCCER. I don't call it football because that's just not what it's called here. I watch almost every Madrid game and support the team the same way I support the Celtics and Packers. It's not a big deal at all that Americans call it soccer...The fact of the matter is that it's growing by leaps and bounds in the states. It will never surpass American football...it probably won't ever catch basketball either. But it could certainly catch baseball and in a lot of ways has already passed hockey. The rest of the world should just be happy that the US is finally starting to catch on because of the 300,000,000 people who represent a potentially massive talent pool that could eventually start producing great players.
Also, there is no reason what so ever to hate American football. Like soccer, it's a great game. Anyone who calls them "pussies" because they wear pads has never watched the sport consistently. It's brutal...I would love to see one of you Internet heros lace them up and take a hit from JJ Watt or Patrick Willis..then you can tell me that the players are cowards. If you don't know who those guys are, do a little Google research.
The same can be said for soccer...it's not nearly as physical as football, but it is certainly a contact sport. And like other people have mentioned, they have some amazing athletes.
People need to just chill and enjoy the games.
