Polemic post - read at your own risk

In the last few years, we are literally bombarded by great shots of fantastic places. This is a great thing, of course: our soul can enjoy this kind of beauty, and many time it is absolutely for free!
Digital photography helped so much in this, because photography costs lowered down so much, and anybody can take hundreds of pictures for free... This way, even a good amateur could end up in taking "the" shot: a perfect picture, even better than the ones taken by professionals. Simply speaking, it is the law of large numbers !

I can go on: the explosion... maybe I can call the "saturation" of pictures taken in iconic places is biasing every evaluation of the real value of the photographer itself. Tell the truth: who does not like a dreamy picture of Val D'orcia!? Or the supernatural northern lights landscape, taken in Lofoten?? Or the milky way over the italian Alps?! I could go on for an hour...

In my opinion, nowadays the "photographic community" is made by a very restricted number of real masters.. the ones that could shot a masterpiece, even in the most common place... But apart from that very little group of great ones, the majority of the shots we see around are taken by a huge number of "good amateurs", with time and money to travel a lot. Good for them, I don't want to say it's their own fault... We must be happy for others' good fortune. But.... do they really deserve so much appreciation?!

Mates, this is a provocation...just joking, but I'd love to hear from you.
+Matthias Haeussler, we spoke so much in the past about the web marketing and the self promotion... what do you think about this topic?

About the shot: Casal Borsetti, a very normal beach on Adriatic Sea. Not iconic, not famous... just a great day with my friend +Francesco Altobelli

To my father

Forgot my roots If only for a day
Just me and my thoughts sailing far away."

Gold, silver and blue

In the last days I saw a strong debate on Adobe advertising... They used selective desaturation, and lots of photographers complained about how ugly could be this kind of post production.

For this reason, I'm so happy to share this shot I post produced long before the debate. I'd love to hear your opinion of course! :)

Bathsheba beach - Barbados

One of the most incredible spots in Barbados... High waves, strong wind, wild scenery... all the ingredients to feel the power of the ocean.
The wind was so heavy that the mist was carried till the lens of my camera... Quite a challenging situation!

Technical notes:
Sony a7R + Sony SEL 16-35mm
Haida filters: ND3.0 + ND1.8 + GND0.9 he
20s, f/14, ISO100

Sapphire beach

Finally back at work on my pictures.... It's been a while since my last post, but I really needed few days off.

This one is from my last trip to Barbados... The magical moments during the sunrises will always be stuck in my memory...

Technical notes: the shot was taken with my dear Sony a7R. The lens is my beloved Samyang 24mm T/S. +Luciano Doria, this is the lens we spoke about.. the shot was taken at 5.6, and everything is in focus!
The filters used: one #haida ND1.8 and one haida GND0.9 hard edge.
I really love the new NanoPro MC series from haida, they did a great work!

Sometimes.. it's nice to share some pics of iconic places!
Italy is full of great locations.... A perfect place is not the one and only ingredient for a great shot. But undoubtedly... it helps a lot!

Guys, I'm going through a deep crisis.. I don't know how to evaluate my work.
The "common taste" on social networks appreciates a different kind of pictures: oversaturated shot, with very hot or very cold color casting.... A heavy Orton effect on the highlits... This seems to be the receipt of success for a picture on social network.
Seems to me that we are back to "photomatix period", when every photographer experimented with that (marvellous) software... but the final result was that shared images were looking all the same.
I'd love to ear from you.... I share my work since many years, and now I'd love to know what you think.
I'll go on looking for my personal taste, but I'd love to hear from you!

No fiery skies?

I was looking for epic sunsets in Barbados... well, I found no red skies, no fiery clouds... but I found incredible nuances during the blue hours... :)
Technical note: I am absolutely amazed by the quality of my brand new Haida Filter ! I never though I could have such incredible contrasts between warm and cold tones, with a ND1000 filter on!

Goodbye Lee... welcome Haida!

Man has the right to change idea. And to leave for new adventures....
This one is just started! :)

I had the great opportunity to test the new series of Haida filters ... The new NanoPro MC ND3.0 is really great, with nearly zero color casting..
I was really impressed by the quality of the optical glass... Thank you so much Haida Filter for the nice opportunity you gave me.. I'm really honored.

Winter time in Romagna

...it's not easy to find good conditions this time of the year... at least in my area: fog, dull skies, not many colors... But if you work hard, you could find something nice anyway!

I took this shot in Casalborsetti, when I was out to test my new #Haida equipment. The ND1000 is definitely a great filter...
