My take is that right now Google+ Games is more like a "minimum viable product" than a fully fledged rival to Facebook. I don't necessarily see a competitive advantage against Facebook gaming yet.
Where Google+ could gain an advantage is mobile: Bake it into Android devices more deeply, since mobile gaming is a massive trend and it's more natural to play games on mobile devices than a computer. With that change, Google could have a fighting chance.
