First the good. The food tasted great. The cocktails were wonderful and the servers were very funny. Now for the bad, for the price you pay the amount of food is almost laughable. The unfortunate thing about this, is that they could have easily added inexpensive fillers to make up for the lack of food. Unfortunately, with a $250 tab (after a Groupon for $110!!) we left hungry.

Leaving aside the 70's dark decor, the fact they didn't had a vegetarian entree listed in their 5 item menu (come on , this is Portland), the draconian rules about everything ( from a mandatory $7 charge if a band is performing live, to corkage fee , or fee for splitting a meal), the high prices on everything ...the food itself was way below average. I ordered a medium done steak and it came bloody so ate maybe a 1/4 of it, while they served to my girlfriend a mushy , rubbery portabella mushroom with some pesto thrown on top as a veg entree. And it's not like they don't try (that's why I give them a good for service which was ok), but in my view they are a far cry from the 23 rating Zagat give them. Overall a very pretentious place that maybe some of the grandparents my enjoy.

The atmosphere was incredibly inviting. We were treated with continuous stories, excellent service and amazingly tasty food that is ethically grown and beautifully presented. The jazz music created a lovely ambiance and we even danced a little. We came with our daughters and they felt very special. We especially enjoyed the presentation of our flaming desert! A worthwhile outing!

Had dinner reservations, and were seated at a very small table. They were not that busy. We ordered drinks and appetizers, as well as our dinners. Service was very slow - waitress did not offer another cocktail -had to go up to the bar and ask. When the cheese plate was finally served, we were told that it took a while b/c they had to slice the cheese - all 6 small slices.....she served the savory bread pudding (delicious, but lukewarm) and we again waited for the next plate. Finally were served a crab and shrimp salad which was tasty. The place was busy by then and everyone around us, including later arrivals were being served. No offer to refill water or take another cocktail order. By then we had been there an hour and a half and still no dinner served. We decided to leave. How long does it take to cook scallops and portobello mushrooms? $10 per person cover and $73+ for 3 drinks, a salad and two appetizers. The jazz band was good enough, but , the with the slow service - it was so not worth it.......there are enough other restaurants in town. Will not be returning there.

Nice happy hour. Love the Basil Buzz. If you stay for dinner, the menu is classic and there is a cover for live jazz.
