I have had experiences with 3 different hospitals and I personally do not care what no one say Suny Downstate is the best, i will agree that there are a couple staff members who works there who need more training in learning to deal with patience because i have seen them in action, but personally i never had any problems with any of them. to be blunt God used the Doctors, Nurses and staffs at Downstate to save my life when i had originally gone to another more famous hospital that never to forget night on July 6,2002 send me home in severe abdominal pain to go see my GYN without running or doing any test. oh they did give me Motrin. only to finally make it to my GYN who did a sonogram at the time and said i need to go to the ER Urgently, i went to Downstate for the first time and they Had to do an emergency surgery to save my life because of the other Hospital negligence my Colon Burst, and i had to have many, many surgeries after that day and all Downstate, so to all listening, this facility by the grace of God will remain open.......

It was my first time at Downstate Medical Center and it was the worst experience of my life. I will never go there again. When I made the appointment, the receptionist never told me the name of the doctor or which clinic to go to. The receptionists and the security were very rude and insulting to me. It was the most humiliating experience of my life. It clearly is the worst medical facility in Brooklyn.

My father was admitted to Downstate late January 2014. Immediately upon his admission the staff of physicians went to work on diagnosing his condition. Within a week's time they had a firm diagnosis. Unfortunately, it was a dire diagnosis but my family was given honest medical advice as to his treatment. The physicians were responsive. They called me to inform me of my father course of action every step of the way. The doctors returned my calls. The nurses were friendly, professional, and attentive. The palliative care team was compassionate and cooperative with my family's requests. Maybe if my father had been admitted to Downstate originally he would still be alive.

I went in for a prenatal check up, it turns out I was having contractions at 26 weeks pregnant. I stayed 7 days I the hospital. The staff did all they could to stop me from having a premature birth never the less my daughter was born. She stayed almost 3 months in the NICU. Today she is a healthy 6 month old with no complications!

Do not go here. I went here for my prenatel visits and gave birth here. The doctor had the nerves to send me home while I was in labor. Came back like 3 hours later and gave birth shortly. They placed my daughter in the bassinett, cleaned her off and did wut ever they had to do and put her in the nursery without letting me breast feed or see her. The overnight nurses are rude, front desk staff in suite G are rude and the doctor had the nerve to tell me if I feel like I need to push then push when I asked if I should push when I was in labor. Also, I was not wheeled chair out when I was discharged. Either they need to shut this place down or get a whole new staff. They are very slow and dont care about the patients. I know I am the only one that ever complained and probably will be because many ppl are afraid to speak up.
