Join Joanne and Jeff on this week's Read Science! episode where we speak with children's author from the UK, Nicola Davies. The Hangout on Air will be held Tuesday, June 9 at noon EDT.

Her book Tiny Creatures garnered her the AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize for 2015 and is also shortlisted for the The Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize 2015. She writes Children's Fiction and Non-fiction and has several picture books as well.

We anticipate a great conversation about how to communicate science to the younger set through books!

Steve Gullans, PhD, is a venture capitalist, scientist and entrepreneur.  He co-founded Excel Venture Management to work with entrepreneurs developing technologies for medicine, energy, agriculture, and social networking.  For 18 years, Dr. Gullans was a professor at Harvard Medical School applying cutting-edge technologies to understanding diseases such as cancer, ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s. His discoveries led to the founding of several biotech companies.  He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has published more than 130 scientific papers in journals such as Nature, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and The New England Journal of Medicine.

Our guests include researcher Dr. Laurie Marker joining us from Namibia, and returning Read Science! guest, photographer +Suzi Eszterhas   to speak about their work with cheetahs as told in the book "A Future for Cheetahs".  We also welcome Joel Greenberg, author of "A Feathered River Across the Sky" and documentary producer +David Mrazek   who collaborated on the film about the life and extinction of the passenger pigeon, "From Billions to None".  Join us as we learn how to share the important message of conservation with the general public Tuesday, March 10 at noon Eastern time, 11am Central, 9am Pacific.
