“Good food; poor overpriced wines” The pub is a friendly local pub with a separate restaurant in another room. I haven't spent much time in the pub section except to watch Sky Sports. The high quality of the food in the restaurant makes it into a gastro-pub and the wine and food prices are higher than most pubs even in the area. Though the quality of the wine could be better for the prices charged. The food is well cooked, dressed and presented. I can recommend the lamb shank. Very tasty with a delicious berry "jus". The duck was also deemed to be good. It certainly looked good. Friendly staff. Several speak Spanish or French. £120 plus tip for 6 main courses, one bottle of young Rioja wine, one lemonade, one half Guinness, two pints of Fosters lager, two coffees and one ice cream. The selection of English beers did not meet the approval of one of the party from Yorkshire - all flat, hoppy with no head - unlike northern English bitters. In warm weather much of the pub life is outdoors on the pavement. Visited June 2013
