Today on the Heroes, Heroines, and History blog I’m following up my series on colonial farming with a look at what kinds of livestock you’d have found on early American farms. In 18th century America few people cared about such a thing as breeds, and few formal ones had been established. Most people considered a cow to be a cow, a pig a pig, and a chicken a chicken. Join me for a discussion of what the animal population of farms of the day would have looked like!

“Exquisite prose, stand-out characterization, and flawless historical accuracy concerning real-life events kept me riveted till the reading was done. I even found myself thinking about the characters and storyline when away from the novel, something I rarely do. I'm a fan for life.” —Laura Frantz, author of A Moonbow Night. Only $2.99 each from Kindle, and $12 for signed copies of the print editions from Amazon through Sheaf House Direct: http://www.amazon.com/shops/sheafhousedirect. Have you ever heard of Webster’s Blue-Back Speller? Join me on the Colonial Quills blog today to learn more about the book that taught generations of American children to spell and read from the late 1700s through the 1800s. The new teaching methods Webster introduced still influence public education in this country today.

This is a scam! I ordered one and never received it, and my repeated attempts to contact them about it have been ignored. Don't waste your money!
