Strengthening women’s place in the communities where Fairtrade works begins with understanding the challenges they face. Female members of ECOOKIM, a Fairtrade certified cocoa cooperative in the Ivory Coast, are stepping up to share their stories on film.

But in this project, they’re not just subjects – they are producing and directing the short films. This short film above is a ‘making of’ video, a sampling of the work. The final film will be used to spark discussion and debate on gender issues with other cooperatives across Africa.

Achieving more together with Fairtrade. Take a trip to the Ivory Coast to visit Fairtrade certified co-op ECOOKIM. Great short film on the impact of Fairtrade for cocoa farmers (and educational - see how they process cacao pods before they become chocolate).
