Looking to my tech connections here: we've been using NAS for household backups, but it's on it's last legs and needs an update. I'm thinking about switching to cloud-based. Thoughts? Recommendations?  Household has two PCs, a Chromebook, iPad and phones (Blackberry, Droid and (soon) an iPhone.)

So, if my district is all GoogleAppy, what about chromebooks instead of iPads/MacBooks for a cart? thoughts?

Why is Google morally opposed to putting borders on things anymore? I have a feeling this obsession with extra white space in all their new designs is Apple related

Dear consumer electronics makers (especially you Apple): when I say off, I actually mean "off," not "blank the screen but secretly continue running and draining the battery."

Watching my family sort through the kids' bookshelves is fascinating. Husband just wants them neat, regardless of content. "It's too big for the shelf, ditch it! That's too easy for the kids, ditch it!" I keep interjecting "but that's a Caldecott!" "No E.B. White is leaving the house!" And my oldest just said "but I read that already, why would I want to keep it?"

Library and book loving friends: redoing my house and will have big new bookshelves. How do you organize your books at home? Fiction vs. Non-fiction? Dewey? Alphabetical? Order you bought them? Color? I am tempted to bring home a portable scanner and catalog, but I fear that is slipping over the edge into crazy lady.

Hah, yes, definitely order I read them, and then loosely organized the following way: fiction in chaos with some authors' work grouped together and nonfiction by topic. I have a graphic novel section.

My bookshelves have an anteroom: newly bought books sit hopefully on my large beside table with three shelves until there's no more room. Then they get shelved somewhere--anywhere.

Does anyone know how pricing and licensing works out for iBooks 2? Can you get simultaneous or unlimited access so you can use these for a school? Or just 1 to 1?

Heard from Apple: 1 license to1 device. Sho not too useful for my school library. Especially since ebook texts I just bought are unlimited, simultaneous license, and just need a web browser. Who has money for each kid to have his own device?

Trying to decide if Apple is actively evil, or just regards it as a side amusement. Copy folders does NOT merge documents, but deletes them. Brilliant plan.
