To the Moon, Mars and worlds beyond! 🚀 Our mission of space exploration and discovery includes a return to the Moon for the first time since 1972, but this time, we’re taking it a step beyond planting the American flag and leaving our footprints behind. We will work with our international and commercial partners to establish a long-term presence on the Moon and eventually, across the solar system. For details, visit http://go.nasa.gov/2HBkQUl.

This panoramic view of Point Sur was photographed from the Sea Otter Refuge View Point on Highway 1 near Hurricane Hill. Point Sur is near the upper right corner, and if you look closely you can make out the lighthouse on the right side of the rock. Near the middle of the image is the mouth of the Little Sur River.

Prints are available for purchase in several sizes. Gift items are also available. Please note: The logo watermark will not appear on purchased products.

Sometimes the Carmel River makes a right turn just before it reaches the ocean and follows a path across the beach parallel to the shore before tuning back towards the sea, as it did here in January 2005. Point Lobos is in the background.

Prints and home decor items are available. Please note: The logo watermark will not appear on purchased products.

Clearing storm clouds hover over the Carmel River Lagoon on January 3rd, 2005. If you look closely you'll find a few ducks in the water and some white egrets. At the far left you can see the buildings of Mission Ranch. The angle of view is roughly 90 degrees with the camera pointed east on the left side and south on the right side.

Framed and unframed prints plus a variety of home decor and gift items are available. Please note: The logo watermark will not appear on purchased products.

At airshows it can be difficult to photograph the static displays due to the crowds wandering around them. In such situations I get the best photos by focusing on details. A low angle on this WWII TBM Avenger torpedo bomber provides a dramatic composition and conveys the sense of power within this airplane. I made this photograph at the California International Airshow in Salinas in October 1995.

Framed and unframed prints are available in a variety of sizes. Home decor and gift items may also be acquired. Please note: The logo watermark will not appear on purchased products.

Great American Airways DC-9 number N1068T parked at McNary Field in Salem, Oregon, on a rainy day in June 1980. I was informed at the time that this charter plane was a "gambler's special" ferrying folks to casinos in Nevada. It made fairly regular appearances in Salem. After I moved to Monterey in 1984, this same plane appeared at Monterey airport on several occasions. Prints are available.
